An ASUS M32CD Desktop Review Wont Answer These 21 Questions

THE ASUS M32CD DESKTOP SEEMS TO HAVE THE SPECS TO PLAY GAMES BUT AT WHAT SETTING?

• Here is the short answer (read on for more details); for high end gaming, you will need to add: a graphics card like an AMD Radeon R9 380 4GB card ($200) or a Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 4GB card (about $320). You should also buy an 250 Gb SSD hard drive (like the Crucial BX100 250GB - $80), and upgrade your RAM to DDR4 (like with Kingston HyperX Fury DDR4 2666 (8GB) - about $60). Out of the box, you will not be able to play any AAA games from the past few years (e.g. GTA V, Fallout 3, Assassin's Creed, etc.) The on-board graphics processor cannot handle them. You will need to invest in a good graphics card if you want to play high end games. However, the i5 chip and motherboard in this computer are solid and 6th generation. So, they are a good investment and should last you a few years at least. So, if you are strapped for cash, you can buy this now and add the additional parts as you go. Your first major upgrade should be the graphics card.

• Yes you can however the CPU will use 65 watts and the power supply is rated at 300watts so it will need to be a lower powered video card. Their are plenty of good solid low powered video cards that will work for this system. Not sure what the other poster is talking about the i5 is a powerhouse of a chip. The i3 version is not that high powered. Entry level. I would recommend the i5 for gaming. The only downside to using the i3 would be the lack of cores. It only has 2 and the i5 has four cores. Some games need all 4 cores to work. Far Cry 4 needs a quad core cpu to work.

• The short answer is I'm not sure. But with this being said most computers can be upgraded with a newer card. However, I bought 2 of these for business purposes and they work great but I would not recommend these for gaming. They are a little on the slow side for that. I custom built my gaming rig. This system probably won't keep you in the game for many years to come. I recommend asus but I would look for something thats a little higher end.

• Yes. I have the ASUS M32CD i5 model. I have been told flat out by ASUS that opening the case and installing a video card WILL invalidate the warranty. This is from an email direct from ASUS support. Yes, it's lame. The i5 is a very good bang for your buck box, but it if you're a gamer you'll need to upgrade the video card.

• Purchase and IDE/SATA adaptor and transfer the data via SATA6 or SATA3 port on the ASUS motherboard. Check Newegg or other site for IDE/SATA adaptor. Realize that the old IDE drive probably is not formatted the same as the Toshiba SATA6 drive in the ASUS machine. You will need to investigate necessary steps to read/store data old data.

• Cable Matters SuperSpeed USB 3.0 to SATA Hard Drive Docking Station. Simple method. Only requires you to remove the hard drive and put the hard drive in the dock. The docking station is connected to the new computer via usb cable. Its available here on amazon 23 dollars. No need to open up both computers. Very simple to use.

• Yes you can install a GTX 950 but it is right at the edge of what the power supply can handle. The CPU performance of this i5 6400 is virtually identical to the i5-4460. However the graphics on this i5-6400 (HD 530) is about 57% faster than the built-in graphics of the i5-4460 (the older HD4600). Since you are adding a video card you probably don't care about the built in graphic though.

• Minecraft it should run. GTA 5 would have to turn down the resolution and even then might not get a playable frame rate. I did try the onboard graphics for Borderlands the pre sequel game. My native resolution is 1680 by 1050. Frames per seconds were in the teens and this was every setting to low.

• It will run but to be on a safe side. just put a 2GB video card. Just get one that has a high rated review. The You will enjoy playing your favorite video game.

• It is a 64 bit which is describe in the description of product. I must say it is a very nice computer, easy to setup. Mine came with Windows 10 which was nice.

• There are two slots for RAM. 8 GB is already installed in one of them. You can add one more in the remaining slot. I added 4 GB RAM and it works fine. I don't know how much more RAM you can add because the product guide was not provided.

• I looked this up. The motherboard is the H81M-A by Asus. I am fairly certain. Maximum supported is 16GB.

• Yes, you can because there is an HDMI output on the computer and the tv has HDMI inputs, but the resolution of the tv is usually lower than the resolution on a monitor.

• Perhaps but at all low settings. You might get playable frame rates like 25 frames per second. Nothing close to 1080P perhaps 720p or less. My screen resolution is 1680 by 1050 and Borderland pre sequel was not playable even at all low settings.
