A 200 QX BNF Review Won't Answer These 26 Questions

DOES THE 200 QX BNF FIT A GOPRO?

• It does not have a standard mount for a GoPro, however it does have enough lift to carry one (search youtube and you can find several videos to attest). I have not yet tried doing that myself, but my gut feeling is that the weight of the GoPro is about the upper limit for what the 200 can carry and still fly well. That will be adequate for swoopy flyaround shots, but if you want to do aerial photography (focusing on the quality of the video, rather than the thrill of the ride), just strapping a camera to the drone isn't enough. You'll want gear to reduce vibration, and a gimbal to keep the camera steady and level as the drone maneuvers. That's where the 200 will prove inadequate, and you'll need a bigger drone like the 350 or a Phantom or something. To me, it looks like the most promising use of the 200 is for FPV sport flying, carrying a lighter camera (like the Mobius) and a video transmitter. You can even use all the gear from the 200 and mount it on a third-party carbon-fibre body to help save weight and improve crash resistance.

• Yes, it will pick up a gopro. But there is no mounts made for it. I used rubber bands. And it doesn't perform well with the extra weight. The 200qx is a fun sport quad, but if you want to get good video, get the 350qx3 and a gopro gimbal or the AP combo. I bought a 200qx with the intention of video, and ended up also getting a 350qx3. They are very different quads. Both are great.

• No, A gopro is too big and heavy for it, you will need to buy the 350QX, if you want to mount a gopro.

HOW MUCH FLYING TIME IS ON ONE CHARGE?

• I have never gotten more than 5.5 minutes of flying even with aftermarket higher capacity 950mah batteries. I usually stop at 5 minutes to keep from over stressing li-poly batteries which should not be discharged passed 20% capacity (leaving 20% remaining) or 3.3 volts per cell under load. When I adhere to his rule I can expect to have batteries perform well for about 6 months, compared to 2 months if I run them passed 3.3v under load and leaving less than 20% battery power remaining.

• If you are just cruising around at decent speeds getting 7-9 minutes isn't unusual.. If you are doing 3D it's going to entirely depend on how well U manage throttle and how aggressive you are flying.. Also if you are using sport vs 3d sport blades.. Most aggressive can be as short as 4-5 minutes.. In stock configuration it's not a bad flight time at all compared to a shorter flight I get out of say a 350qx2 with gimbal and gopro installed.

• Really depends on how you fly it. Aggressive flight will give about 5 minutes. Mellow flight maybe 7 minutes. Inverted flight will yield under 5 minute flight times. Best to buy multiple batteries and just swap them out.

• 7 minutes or so. If you flight it hard it will be a little less. I have flown mine with the stock pack and other packs and they all seem about the same.

• They say 5-6 min. I have my timer set to 5 min. never have hit the LVC. This is just hovering it around on my back deck though.

• Depends...without camera or other payload: I get about 7 minutes. Buy xtra batteries.

• Approx, 8-10 minutes depending on how your flying

• About 15 mins

DOES THE 200 QX BNF HAVE THE NEWEST FIRMWARE ENABLING 3D FLIGHT?

• New Firmware Update The firmware update for the Blade 200 QX unlocks three additional flight modes so you can experience the aerobatic potential of the 200 QX. While the updated firmware software is free, the Blade 200 QX update cable is required to install the software to a 200 QX. Additionally, pilots must install the appropriate propellers prior to flight in order to experience each flight mode to its full extent. 3D Stagility 3D Stagility Mode features a self-leveling characteristic that's active when the control sticks are released. Whether you're flying inverted or upright, the 200 QX will self-level so you can learn inverted flight with mild assistance. When flying in this mode, 0-50% throttle is reversed thrust and 51%-100 is positive thrust. 3D Agility 3D Agility Mode was designed for experienced pilots, anyone who has mastered inverted flight in all orientations and advanced pilots looking for a full 3D flying experience with no self-leveling. When flying in this mode, 0-50% throttle is reversed thrust; 51%-100 is positive thrust.

• No, but firmware is free to download. You will need a cable called USB-Interface (part number BLH7840). In addition, you will need to purchase the 3D props - there are two versions of 3D props called Sport (BLH7714) or 3D (BLH7715). I downloaded and installed the firmware today with no issues. The 200 QX is a blast to fly. Fly safe and good luck.

• No it does not. It's optional and can only be updated using a cable sold separately.

WHAT KIND OF RADIO CONTROLLER DOES THE 200 QX BNF USE? I DON'T SEE ONE IN THE PHOTO?

• All BNF aircraft are "Bind and Fly" which means you need to provide your own radio. The 200QX will work with most Spektrum radios and probably most that support DSM2/DSMX.

• It is a bind n fly version that will bind to any spektrum dsm/dsm2 controller over 4 channels. The dx5 or dx6i work well. They are sold separately though

• BNF: Bind-and-Fly means you provide your own DSM transmitter. I use a Spektrum DX8 with all my models. This quad is very fun to fly - recommend.

• I use spektrum dx6 but any programable radio transmitter will work, and I just used YouTube videos to set it all up, not to difficult

• You need to buy a remote separately. I use the DX6i remote. You want to get this quadcoptor - it's an amazing little thing!

• It uses at least a six channel radio. Not included. Your local hobby shop can point you in the right direction

• It is recommended by Blade that the DSM2 or the DSMX Transmitter should be used to bind with the 200 qx.

• Bnf means you need your own transmitter

• Can i use the spectrum dx5e (mode 1)?

• Spectrum. I use a DX7S.

CAN THE 200 QX BNF CARRY A 3OZ CAMERA?

• Yes it can. I have a GoPro Hero 3+ and mount that weight 3.1oz. It will cut battery life down to about 3 1/2 minutes but other than that it does a pretty good job. I have attached two links. One of my 200 qx flying in my backyard:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g-ISwQKDtdc and the other link on how to make the mount by ARTINCbydb: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q5sEWNP9Z6c It is not as stable as the bigger birds, so I just put my videos in slow motion to achieve a decent video. Give it a try, its a lot of fun and a great way to start aerial photography on a budget. If your camera does time lapse, try putting your camera on 1 second shots for some great stills.

• I flew a Sony action cam on mine between the legs in my small back yard and got some pretty trick shots. Battery lasts a little shorter. Nice platform.

• This thing might carry a 3 pound camera lol it's awesome yes it will

• Yes, a 3oz camera would be no problem.

• No it may be able to carry one ounce

• Yes, I have a mobius on mine.

• Yes, lots of power

WILL THE TRANSMITTER THAT COMES WITH THE NANO QX 3D RTF WORK BIND WITH THE 20 QX?

• It might as they both use the DSMX. However I would strongly advise not trying this. The 200QX is a very powerful quad with brushless motors and therefore it has a motor startup and shutdown sequence. Even with hobby grade transmitters some people have trouble getting the sequence configured properly. I have no idea how to do this on the BNF transmitter. Additionally the 200QX has three flight modes, not sure how you would configure these without a better controller.

• Yes it will work, I am using the radio from the normal Nano Qx without a problem. See the 200qx manual for a list of compatible radios and the supported flight modes. You can download it from blades website.

• Go to horizon hobby web site, give them a call they could give you the correct answer on your question.

CAN THE RECIEVER BE CHANGED TO ACCEPT ANY TRANSMITTER?

• Anything is possible, but it would not be a good idea. Get one of the Spectrum transmitters and you will have a great quad to fly. The 200 QX is my favorite, I love flying it.

• Yes major modification would be required including soldering. I recommend looking at the DJI Flamewheel quad or hex kits.

• I pretty sure you cannot change the receiver. You can use a Spectrum transmitter but it won't work with a Futaba.

• No, it's not recommended. It would require too many modifications to be worth while.

• No you can't unless u change the flight controller power distribution and receiver

• No they are built into flight control board the same goes for the qx350

I CAN NOT GET THE BLADES TO TURN, GO DOWN TO CENTER BOTH STICKS, UP 5 CLICK WITH TRIM AND LR LR LR W/LEFT STICK AND NOTHING, ANY SUGGETIONS/HELP?

• What type of remote are you using? Did you try it after just 1 click up on the throttle trim? That is usually all it needs. With 5 clicks it may not activate. I would also look back through the settings and make sure everything is done right there.

• Are you turning on the transmitter first,if so are you getting a steady blue light,if so take your throttle trim two clicks past centre ,toggle left stick only left and right quickly.good luck.

• Which radio are you using to bind to the 200qx

DOES THE 200 QX BNF HAVE ENOUGH LIFT POWER TO HOLD THE MOBIUS HD MICRO CAMERA?

• I am not familiar with that camera but this little 200 rocks with plenty of power. I have the Blade 720p HD camera... does fine.

• Yes. Many 200qx owners mount a Möbius on it. Quad won't be quite as agile but will certainly carry it.

• Yes it dose and its a little powerhouse works real good with the ladybug FPV camera TX 5805

• Also... they are getting ready to release a Fatshark Micro FPV cam and tx for the 200

• Yes. I am using it for that purpose as i have a mobius camera.

• Yes. It has a lot of power and flys great.

DOES THE 200 QX BNF HAVE AUTO RETURN?

• No the 200QX does not have Auto Return. Some of the more expensive quads have and utilize GPS which allows the quad to return on its own.

• There is no GPS (global positioning system) or RTH (return to home) capability on the 200 QX

• No. Return home functionality requires a GPS and the 200qx does not have that.

• No. It has no GPS capability. You need GPS for return home.

• No. There is no Gps on the Blade 200 qx.

• It Does not have that feature.

• No return home only safe

• No it does not

• No it doesn't.

• No

WHAT IS SAFE TECHNOLOGY?

• Safe technology is like a 6 axis gyro when you let go of the sticks it will go back to a level hover. With out safe technology when you go forward and let go of the stick it will still keep on forward you have to pull back on the elevator stick to slow it down or make it go into a hover

• In SAFE flight mode it automatically levels the aircraft when you let go of the sticks and limits the bank angle so it does not get away from you to fast when you are first learning to fly. This is a great platform to learn on because it is so capable.

WITH THE 3 MODES OF FLIGHT DOES THE 200 QX BNF HAVE THE ABILITY TO DO PROGRAMMED TRICKS?

• Programmed? You can fly inverted with the one flight mode, but I wouldn't say you can preprogram "tricks" with the press of a button. Of course the one flight mode will perform flips with stick input.

• No programmed tricks. With new firmware update it will do flips and even fly upside down, but only under manual control with an advanced pilot.

• I dont think so but the trick is to not crash it or watch it fly away. I havent flown it yet however.

CAN I ATTACH A GOPRO WITH A GIMBAL?

• No. You'll need a bigger airframe and more lift. Get a dji vision 2+ You can mount a camera to this unit but not a go pro on a gimbal

• No on gimbal, yes on mounting Gopro, see Youtube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q5sEWNP9Z6c&index=1&list=FLhcQFgtSuciJ6faElW92Crg

• Legs too short and doesn't have a enough power to carry gimbal, I think

• No

• No

• No

• No

• No

• No

DOES THE 200 QX BNF COME WITH THE FIRMWARE UPGRADE CABLE?

• Nope, it does not. I see that cable here and there for less than $10 I believe. It should come with the darn cable for the cost though in my opinion. I love the 200QX and it is by far my favorite craft to fly including fixed-wing all the way to helis. It is like a smaller, faster, angrier little brother to the 350QX. It's an absolute delight.

• It does not come with firmware upgrade cable..

• No it does not come with the cable

WHERE CAN I BUY THE TRANSMITTER?

• Any SPektrum Transmitter will work, DX7 is a nice unit and provides that standard amount of channels most models will required plus 1 extra. (6Ch is standard, so a DX6 radio will be fine also). All available through amazon or directly through Horizon Hobby or even you local hobby shop.

• At any hobby store or you can go on line to horizon hobbies I got the spectrum dx6

• DX6 is the best. We have both in stock and ready to ship.

• Hobbytown

IS THE 200 QX BNF COMPATIBLE WITH FUTABA RADIOS?

• This quadcopter is just compatible with Spektrum transmitters. I would recommend at least the newest Spektrum DX4e or DX5e (with the 3 position switch) in order to utilize all 3 flight modes!

• As far as I know, It isn´t compatible with the regular futaba radios. It is compatible with Spektrum and Orange Brands radios only.

• You would have to get a spektrum dsm2/dsmx transmitter module for your futuba.

• Check with Blade..My Spectrum dx9 bound right up.

WHAT IS A CHEAP RADIO THAT WILL BIND TO THE 200 QX BNF?

• The best radio in my opinion is the Dx6i. It will allow you to exploit the upgraded firmware available for the QX200 and grow into many other RC models such as quads, helicopters and airplanes.

• The dx4 or dx5 will bind to it. If you go for a second hand dx6i you can program all modes in easier though

• DX5e. We have it in stock and ready to ship

COULD THE 200 QX BNF LIFT ABOUT 8 OUNCES EFFORTLESSLY? I AM ATTEMPTING TO USE MY SAMSUNG GALAXY S4 TO SNAP VIDEO AND PICTURES.

• There is no way that would work you would need a much more powerful quad. I think that It would not leave the ground.

• It will lift a go pro at 50% throttle with the stock blades so I imagine it will lift a phone fine if that helps?

• I think it should have more than enough power

AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO NOTICED THE 200 QX BNF GETTING A VERY SHORT RANGE? MY DX8 SHOWS VERY LITTLE SIGNAL AT 20 FEET, BUT AFTER 150 FEET IT DROPS BADLY.

• Mine crash lately and now it doesn't have any distance, I called HH and they said I should replace the main board, that's the smaller one with the antenna.

• Mine will fly to 200 feet (checked on the football field) with no problem on a DX7.

WHAT'S A GOOD INEXPENSIVE TRANSMITTER TO PAIR WITH THE 200 QX BNF?

• +1 on the DX5e - works great with it. Channel 5 Switch - 0 for training; 1 for normal use; 2 for a disaster Set Rate to Lo

• I use the DX5E with the 3 position toggle switch. About 59.99

• I got the spectrum dx6 about 190.00

• Dx5e spertrum work fine and. Cheap

• I recommend DX5e or DX6i

WILL MY MLP4DSM BIND TO THE 200 QX BNF?

• Yes I am using this radio with the 200qx, but you are limited to 2 of 3 modes of flight- low angle stability mode and agility mode where all self leveling is off. To access high angle stability and crash recovery, you need a better radio like dx5e, dxe, or dx6i. All the details are in the manual.

• NEED SPECTRUM TX

WILL THE DX5E WORK WITH THE RECEIVER THAT IS ALREADY IN THE 200 QX BNF?

• Yes the DX5e will be able to be bound with that quad!

• Yes, it will bind directly to the quad.

• Yes the DX5E will work with that

• Yes it will work fine

• Yes it will

DO YOU HAVE TO TURN ON AND OFF THE SAFE MODE OR IS IT ON ALL OF THE TIME??

• It will go acro with a flip of the switch. The crash button works just fine on mine.

• It stays on all the time until u put it in agility mode

• Defalt on all the time

WILL I NEED BUY SPEKTRUM DX6I WITH RECEIVER TO GET 200 QX TO FLY?

• The 200QX has a built in receiver. You will need a DSMX compatible transmitter, the dx6i should be just fine.

• No, just the transmitter, the 200 qx already has a spectrum receiver.

DOES THE 200 QX BNF COME WITH A BATTERY AND A CHARGER?

• Yes it does. It doesn't come with a transmitter. But it does come with one 2 cell battery and a charger for the battery.

• Yes it does have a lipo and a basic charger.

• Yes it does.

DOES THE 200 QX BNF COME WITH A CAMERA?S

• No and good luck mine came with a bad flight control board and would not bind.

• No
