An AMSCOPE M150C Review Won't Answer These 16 Questions

IS THE AMSCOPE M150C HEAVY? CAN YOU SAY THE AMSCOPE M150C'S WELL BUILT AND DOES NOT FEEL CHEAP? THANKS.

• It is very well built. I have no complaints about the construction or operation. Most of the body is some form of steel. Some other parts are plastic (Knobs, etc.) I love the magnification levels. I bought it for exploration with my grandchild. We have found Tardigrades in the yard, and have seen individual blood cells. Cool tool.

• I think it doesn't worth the money. My kids do not like this because it has only one sided eye observer and they find it difficult to operate compared to what they use at school.

• It is "weighty", but no, not heavy. I can say with certainty that it is well-built and in no way is it cheap. It has the ability to see at a cellular level clearly.

• In my opinion it is light it does not feel heavy. You can easily lift it with a pinky. Also, it has metal but it is pretty plasticy.

• It is a little bit heavy and well built, but the lens quality is poor.

I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT MICROSCOPES, WHAT TYPE WOULD I NEED TO VIEW THE SURFACE SCRATCHES ON A STEEL BALL BEARING FOR INSTANCE? THANKS IN ADVANCE.

• Probably at least 4x, which when combined with the eyepiece lense in most microscopes(10x) would be 40x, which would probably be plenty, u probably want to look for a microscope with a dissection light(shining down on the object) because otherwise you won't be able to see the scratches since the light on most microscopes shines through the bottom of the object as opposed to through the top..... A good microscope with a light shining down would be the "My First Lab Duo-Scope Microscope"....it's available through amazon for only $63.... Hope that helps

• Thank you for asking a questions. To view three dimensional object, a stereo microscope is needed. M150C-I is a compound microscope and is used to view thin cell specimens. Please search Amazon "AmScope SE" for our stereo scopes. Please feel free to contact us again if you have another question.

IS THE AMSCOPE M150C REALLY 100% MADE OF METAL? ALSO, WHY DOES THE AMSCOPE M150C CLAIM TO HAVE 5 MAGNIFICATION LEVELS - THERE ARE ONLY 3 OBJECTIVE LENS?

• Just to help solve this math puzzle, I'm assuming the eyepieces are 4x and 10x, and the objective lenses are 10x, 25x, and 100x. I don't own the microscope, but these values would be consistent with the stated magnifying power and would also explain why there are 5 instead of 6 (the shared product of 4 x 25 = 10 x 10). Edit: now I see another comment stating eyepieces are 10x and 25x, so I guess that would make objectives 4x, 10x, and 40x - still sharing the 100x combination

• I have not taken it apart to verify, but you can't really expect 100% metal. How could you see thru it? (the lenses are made of glass) It does have 3 magnification lenses and comes with 2 eye lenses. If you think about it, that makes it have 6 levels. Is it worth the money? Definitely.

CAN THE AMSCOPE M150C MICROSCOPE BE USED TO CHECK SPERM MORPHOLOGY AT THE AMSCOPE M150CS HIGHEST MAGNIFICATION?

• Well not sure about sperm morphology. You can apparently see blood cells. My daughter has been successful seeing human cells from a mouth swab. I think a sperm cell is roughly the same size as a epidermal cell - but I'm not a cytometrist. I'd say give it a shot. You would have to experiment with diff dyes but I'd imagine it is possible. YMMV.

• I know you can see sperm im not sure what morphology means you can also see sigle cell organisms divide into two (i mixed blood and sperm and watched the little guys come to life amongst the sperm and blood cells)

• Yes the answer is yes i looked up what that meant and you can definitely see the shape how well they're swimming and so on and so forth :)

CAN WE SEE BACTERIA (IN YOGURT) WITH THE AMSCOPE M150C MICROSCOPE?

• I haven't purchased this yet, but 1000x should be far more than enough for bacteria. You would have to prepare the slide, by heat it for a few seconds over a gas flame or electric stove eye on high to denature the protein. This is solidifying the bacteria, in the same way an egg solidifies when fried. It will then need a drop of stain on it for a few seconds, followed by rinsing with water. It should then be ready for a cover glass and viewing. Stain is essential for bringing out the detail in cells and bacteria.

• This scope seems strong enough for protists, but bacteria are much smaller. I haven't tried, but I think you will need something with greater power to see bacteria.

DOES THE AMSCOPE M150C HAVE A LIGHT UNDER THE SLIDE? CAN YOU SEE BLOOD? LIKE LYME?

• Yes there is a LED which illuminates the slide - works quite well. You can see human cells from a cheek swab. I have also seen human blood cells. I'm not sure if you can see lyme. In general bacteria are far too small to see very clearly. I can see small tiny "dots" which may or may not be actual bacteria - but still pretty useless since you can't see any morphological features - even at 1000x.

• Yes it has a light I have looked at blood before I have never looked at Lyme before

• Yes it does and you can adjust the brightness

• Absolutely! I have personally tested this :)

DO YOU HAVE TO USE SLIDES OR CAN YOU PUT LIKE INSECTS OR LEAVES ON THE AMSCOPE M150C?

• You don't have to use slides, but since the light source is under the slide tray, it will be difficult to see, unless they are thin enough for light to pass through. You can cut leaf pieces small enough to place on a slide and see the detail. This would be great for such things as still pond water with plenty of organisms, etc. if you are fixed on bugs and larger items like leaves, you may want to look at magnifiers that you can plug into a computer.

• You need slides

IS THE PIECE TO CONNECT THE MICROSCOPE TO A LAPTOP INCLUDED, AS PICTURED?

• Dear Customer, Than you for asking a questions. The M150C-I doesn't come standard with a camera. The picture simply shows the capability of this microscope to be connected with a camera. The camera needs to be purchased separately. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us again. AmScope

• No - I think you're just looking at the a/c adapter. It has a battery but it charges off of a plug (shown in photo).

• NO - pictured is the power cord.

• Yes, it's included.

ONE OF THE PICTURES INDICATES THE AMSCOPE M150C CAN BE CONNECTED TO A COMPUTER, I ASSUME VIA USB CABLE. IS THAT A CORRECT ASSUMPTION? IF SO, DOES THE CABLE COME WTHE AMSCOPE M150C?

• See the AmScope MD35A USB digital camera, also at Amazon. The M150 microscope has a 23mm eyepiece and the MD35A fits the 23mm opening. $42.11 at Amazon.

• I believe it is simply showing that it has the capability of having a camera inserted into the eye piece.

• No it cannot. It is misleading.

• No

• No

DOES THE AMSCOPE M150C COME WTHE 100X IMMERSION LENS? OR DO I HAVE TO GET IT SEPARATELY? AND IS THE AMSCOPE M150C 600 X MAGNIFICATION?

• Dear Customer, thank you for asking a question. The M150C-I set doesn't come with a 100X objective lens. You can purchase one separately on Amazon. Please feel free to ask another question. Thank you.

• It has 2 eye pieces wf25x and 10x ...and yes it is 600x magnidication. It is a beautiful gift. My daughter enjoy it in her science project

HOW DO YOU MOVE THE SLIDES?

• Hello, I have this same AmScope for my daughter. You have to move the slide manually using your finger. I don't think it has any additional rotator or any extra knob. Bye

• See the AmScope MS90 Mechanical Stage For M148, M149, M150, M152 Series Microscopes, also at Amazon. $22.17.

I KNOW THE QUESTION HAS BEEN ASKED BEFORE, BUT HAVE THERE BEEN ANY DIFFERENT ANSWERS- DOES THE AMSCOPE M150C HAVE A FINE ADJUSTMENT KNOB???

• Yes, it's pretty good. This microscope is better than what I have seen in most American public high schools. Amazing value for the money.

• Don't know; bought it for my grandson.

• Yes

DOES THE AMSCOPE M150C HAVE CASE?

• No, it does not come with a case. it is in styrofoam packaging.

• No, but we just keep it in the box or on a shelf in our cabinet.

• It has a dust cover.

DOES THE AMSCOPE M150C COME WITH A CAMERA? THE AMSCOPE M150C LOOKS LIKE IT DOES IN THE REVIEWS BUT NOT IN THE DESCRIPTION.

• No it did not come with a camera

• No it does not

DOES THE AMSCOPE M150C COME WITH PREPARED SLIDES AND/OR BLANK SLIDES TO COLLECT SPECIMENS OR DO I ORDER THOSE THINGS SEPARATELY?

• Order them separately.

• No slides
