I HAVE TALKED TO PEOPLE THAT SAY THE FIRE HD 10 IS NOT WORTH BUYING!
SO TO THE PEOPLE THAT HAVE ONE, IS IT ANY GOOD?
• I have one and I'm going to give it a little bit more time before writing a review, but I love it so far! I haven't noticed any issues with speed and the screen quality is just fine (and I'm used to looking at the high quality screen of the iPhone 6 plus). I just got the official amazon cover in the mail today and the cover/stand is awesome. I highly recommend this tablet and the case if you're a fan of Amazon and you like the way the Fire operating system is set up. If you want an all-in-one device an iPad may be a better bet, but obviously it's not fair to compare the two because they're in completely different price ranges. I wouldn't listen to the people who clearly got defective units and should have returned them.
• I love my Fire HD 10. It is bright, easy to use, and relatively easy to understand. I am still exploring what it can do, but would definitely buy it again if necessary. Take a look at a friends to get a better idea of the feel. I suggest you get the Amazon cover w/stand and you will need a protective cover for the screen. I am thrilled with mine.
• Hi Jimmie, I've have an iPad air, Samsung tab 4 and the Fire HD 10. I'd definitely take the Fire over the iPad and for the price I'd take it over the Samsung. If price isn't a concern then you'll get a bit more power out of the Samsung but if you want to stay in this price range you can't really go wrong with it. Hope this helps. Cheers, Jeremy
• Jimmie, .the person who told you that is correct ! I was so looking forward to mine. It is beautiful, sleek and light. It just does not work. The picture flickers and right in the middle of a movie, it jumps back around from the movie to my home page to my emails. I"m returning mine.

• Love my new Kindle Fire 10. Love it so much my husband got one also. As the primary household user it allows me to share apps & all content with my husband, also. And any other device as long as it accepts the Kindle app.. Quick & easy to use also has long life battery. My best Kindle so far. Love watching my Netfix videos in HD. Streaming live TV is better than my TV. Doesn't freeze up like my laptop does. Lots of storage & love the Kindle Cloud for unlimited amounts of photos, to save all my photo's from phone to Kindle. No more losing photo's from my android phone. The price is right also purchased the Kindle cover that fits perfectly. Love that also. Highly recommended.
• Definitely not! The screen size is nice but the processor is ridiculously slow. I would send mine back if Amazon would take it back but they won't. I do not know what they were thinking when they released this but it is almost useless. It takes forever to load apps, it won't run many apps, and it is always going into "low memory mode". I thought I had a defective unit so I had Amazon replace it for me but this was is exactly the same...it is really not worth the money.
• I do alot of reading and like the size....being the size that it is makes it a little difficult to get comfortable with when I try to place it independently to read...the cover is hard to use and really is more trouble than it is worth......would I buy it again ...yes.....
• It is a great starter tablet. I found that I could not get my Xfinity through Kindle Fire but could get most of what I wanted. It is a big enough screen to watch movies,etc. I really like it and am learning how to use it.
• To be honest, I prefer the fire hd 8. The 10" seems to have issues with games and Facebook. The screen is only slightly larger but the video quality is better. Having more memory is good too.

WHICH WOULD YOU PURCHASE, THE FIRE HD 8 OR THE FIRE HD 10?
• I actually have two kindle fires, the 7" and the 10" ; I believe the 7 and 8 inch models are about the same weight. I like them both. I use the smaller one for reading in bed (the weight difference is significant if you are holding it up for a while). It's also a bit more portable, particularly if you want to put it in a small handbag or purse. I use the 10 inch model for work and study since I need to read a lot of technical articles that are in pdf format. The larger screen is better with the pdf format since I can view a whole page at once. If you live near a Best Buy store you can go in check them out on display. I would still recommend buying directly from Amazon though, not from Best Buy. PS: I think the SanDisk memory cards they recommend are overpriced. I bought a PNY 128GB and it works great. • There is a price difference so if you can afford it go for the 10. I went from a 7", and I love the bigger screen for viewing movies and reading books and newspapers, playing games etc. I also updated to the 32 GB for more storage space.

HOW CAN I TRANSFER MY BOOKS AND APPS FROM MY FIRE HD 8 INTO THE FIRE HD 10?
• I ran into a problem when I tried to download my Kindle library from Amazon. It turned out I bought my books through the Amazon Kindle store on my Kindle HD. I used one password for this account, but a different one for my Amazon store account. With the help of an Amazon Chat representative I was able to unregister the Kindle HD account and re-register with the Amazon account password. Then the books transferred with no problem. If you have a problem call Chat. They always have the answer to a problem.
• All of my apps transferred over by themselves, if you go to home page and look up at top of the screen you will see HOME in white letters. Next to that you'll see books ( it's not highlighted) touch it. It will take you to books from your library. Down in right corner in blue you will see( see all your books) touch that. Now all your books will show up.
• As long as the two Kindle HD's are registered on the same account, all your books and apps will appear on your new Fire HD 10. I have been using my HD 10 since they came out and everything is available on all my Kindle tablets.
• All of your owned Amazon library (content) is stored in the Amazon cloud. Therefore, it is available to you via any Amazon device you may purchase now or in the future.
• If you discover your books are in a different Amazon account than your Devices, which happened to me, you will find the Chat Associates very helpful with the transfer.

DOES THE FIRE HD 10 HAVE THE FREEZE AND CRASH ISSUES THAT THE CUSTOMERS MENTION WITH THE OTHER FIRES?
• My Experience with the Kindle Fire 10" has not been long, but there seems to have a lot of issues with maintaining WiFi connection, and a little problems with video play issues. I can't say if the WiFi and Video play are one in the same. I brought the Fire 10" to stream video and the app i was using TabloTv works on the Fire 8.9 but it will not work on the Fire 10". Tech support has not gotten back with me to tell what is the problem.
• I've had my Fire10 for a month with no problems until a couple of days ago. I started to get upset since this is my second Fire10 (the first one wouldn't work). Then I remembered the thing about holding down the start button for 40 seconds for a reboot. It worked! I've had to do it one other time and then it comes up great. I love my Fire10 even if it has given me a few problems. Give it a chance.
• Funny you should ask, as soon as I posted, I started to get a lot of freezes on Bing and my books would not load I had to refresh. If it keeps up I may have to do the dirty deed and exchange or return. Hopefully I didn't review too quick

• I really don't know. I've never had an Ipad. However if you go to Amazon.com and look for the specific apps you are interested in, this could help you. I am a Kindle fan and have always been very happy with it. As a member of Prime I can download a lot of free movies, tv shows etc. Plus the 10" has Google apps available that can be downloaded. My husband is very happy because he loves classic music, Bach, etc and gets them for free. So many collections of books are free. I purchased my first Kindle mainly for reading and have continued to update my Kindle for on-line services. Have fun deciding.
• You do have the Amazon Apps. Do not have the Google Play as I did on my other tablet. The Amazon Apps library is very limited. This is a big let down. You have underground apps, free downloads, and paid. I am really not into games, as use mine for internet browsing, reading, books, audio, and video streaming.
• Lots of app in the apps store for the Kindle fire 10. I think I will find anything I need there. I am new to mine but you can check the apps by running a search before you buy you new kindle.

IS THERE ANY KEYBOARD DOCK FOR THE FIRE HD 10?
• Yes they do have cases with keyboards for this bigger Kindle Fire 10.1 but they are $99.99 and I find that way too expensive just for a keyboard. The on-screen keyboard is incredible considering this is such a big tablet. I purchased a stylus and extra memory when I purchased my Fire Kindle 10.1. I am way too ADHD to smudge my beautiful tablet with finger prints. BIGGER IS BETTER, never let anyone tell you otherwise! This 10.1 Fire tablet far superior than its smaller predecessor , I had the smaller one and it had more than a few issues, but it did have amazing video quality when streaming video from my Prime video for free and music also. This bigger Fire Kindle is incredible streaming is amazing music and video and the choice to add extra memory is available with this bigger Kindle and that wasn't for the smaller Fire. If you need a keyboard they do have blue tooth keyboard for this bigger Kindle that are a better alternative and the price is not as expensive as the keyboards with the cases. I hope this helps you make a responsible choice.

HOW LONG DOES THE FIRE HD 10 TAKE TO FULLY CHARGE AND CAN I USE A REGULAR KINDLE HDX FAST CHARGER?
• As I have never fully drained the charge on my Fire HD 10, I don't know how long it would take to fully charge it from zero charge. However when I do occasionaly take it down to 95% or so charge then plug it in it does seem to charge pretty fast. I don't have a regular kindle hdx fast charger to test it with. For charging I use the Anker 5 port 40 watt charger (from Amazon) or I also use a RavPower 4 port 36 watt charger (from Amazon). Both these chargers will charge the Fire HD 10 in just about no time at all.
• Takes less than couple hours, if you use a rapid charger. I purchased a three in one charger from big lots also came with car adaptor, USB and wall socket. Hope this has been helpful.
• I may be able to help. It doesn,t take very long if clear down to nothing. I think the charger should work.

• The 10" Kindle is great for watching things on, but a bit too unwieldy for carrying around to take photos. You would be much better off with an iPad mini for taking those photos, and then the 10" Kindle for looking at them on! So I'd buy both!
• The 10" Fire Kindle is great for reading books, watching TV and movies and reading papers and magazines. It has an option for taking pictures so I am sure it must be good for that, too. I haven't used it for that.

• If you care about the quality of video, do not buy this kindle. Screen resolution is average at best. I also had issues with mine crashing 50% of the time i opened an app (maybe i just got a defective unit), but when it worked, it worked great. I would say if thats all you are using it for, go with the 8.9. Much better piece of equipment.
• As bad as this new device locks or freezes up, and its very weak pickup of a WiFi signal, I'd say forget it and go with a DELL Venue 8 PRO 8" tablet instead. These are about $120 at Best Buy and work great, have a HD resolution screen and with tons of built in software including a Kindle reader, it's a no-brainer.

• Unbelievably good, I'm visually impaired and the accessibility features of the Fire 10 are wonderful. Deaf, visually impaired, blind all are addressed. Couldn't be happier. I replaced my broken Kindle HD D00801 and was amazed at the improvements with the Fire 10. I would also like to mention pictures are in color!
• I have an earlier Kindle and consider the new fire HD10 to be superior in all ways. Larger screen, faster, more memory and a micro sd slot. It is thinner and lighter which can be a plus or minus. Short answer, yes works very well as a reader.

• I'm going to work on the assumption that it works on the same format, or something similar to what i have (a kindle fire HD 8). To change/alter/remove an app from the homepage, do a "long press" on the app icon and a banner will come up across the top of the screen giving you options to cancel [X], add [+] or remove [trash can]. Select the app/s you wish to remove from your homepage with a long press [press and hold], when the banner appears tap on the trashcan and you will be given a choice to remove from Favorites, Device or from Cloud.
• I am 62 and my husband is 70. We have no problems with ours. We do both agree that we wish there was a way to remove the apps on the Home page that we don't use, but unfortunately there isn't as far as I know.

• Yes. A tablet is a tablet. Generally speaking, people who have iPhones get iPads based on their preference for Apple products and the way they are integrated with each other and the cloud. If you just want a tablet to surf with, any will do the trick. We happen to love the Fire HD. It is a great product for the price.
• Yes, you can surf the web with the Fire HD, it is a tablet. I use it for everything. I write letters, answer and send e-mail, listen to music, download books to read and to listen to.....it is wonderful and so compact I pack it in my purse plus take and store pictures on it. • The Samsung phone is an Android operating system device and Amazon's fire is also based on it's own customized version of Android. So typically if you are a Samsung device user, you will obtain your apps from the Google App Store (Samsung may also have its own.) Kindle Fire users will generally obtain their apps from the the Amazon app store. If you are concerned about syncing applications like the calendar and contacts, both devices will be able to sync if your husband uses Google's gMail. You should base your decision on how each device will be used. For instance, I use my Apple iPhone for messaging and phone calls and I use my Fire for reading, games and video because of the larger screen size and because the Fire is not really a phone (using Skype is the exception.)

• I had this happen on my HDX 9.8 I contacted Amazon service and the were able to"remote in and restore the operating system unfortunately it did not last and it died not being able to shut it off or recharge the battery Mine was out of warrantee so I bought a new one .if yours is in warrantee get in touch with Amazon right away !
• Not sure why your having problems but I suggest you hold the off button for at least 40 seconds in the off position. Do not take finger off until you've counted 40 seconds. When you see it coming back on continue to keep in off position. This should reset everything. Hopefully this will work for you.
• This edition of the Kindle fire series is a piece of crap. I boxed mine up and returned it within one hour of getting it in trying it out.

• Yes, both of my parents have their own kindle fires and a fire stick linked to the same account, and I have an e-reader, fire stick, and kindle fire hd all linked to mine. You can't watch the same thing on two different devices at the same time however. But one account cen service multiple devices, so keep your household on the same account to share owned content.

• I just turned it on as I have not watched a movie yet. I watched a new show on Amazon prime and I do not see any delay or problem. I have Comcast for internet. I personally am going to commit my opinion that I happen to like the resolution better than the Apple which we have in our house.
• I use Fire HD 10 to watch Netflix and both Amazon Prime and videos purchased thru Amazon. Fire HD 10 works brilliantly for all of these. I have not experienced any wifi problem with Fire HD 10.

• Yes it would work but keep in mind that the Amazon Silk browser that they provide you with isn't the best. I haven't really researched much to see if there might be a better browser option to download. If that is all you need it for then it would be fine.

• In the past I used mine to complete college assignments, using google docs. It's very easy to use, my 84 year old grandmother plays games and my 8 year old does homework daily using the Fire.

I have a nexus 6 , the fire hd 10 and a yoga tablet pro and use a bluetooth keyboard with all of them. One keyboard multiple device.
• Hi Marilyn, the keyboard does not come with the tablet. It is an additional cost. However, the keyboard is a combo keyboard and tablet cover in one so you don't need to purchase a protective cover if you purchase the keyboard.

• If there is a notes feature with the Fire 10 I haven't discovered it. You can use the App store to purchase FREE apps by looking for notes apps in the Underground section where all apps are free. There are numerous Note apps to select from. This is where I got mine. Good luck.

• I found with my tablets I have to reboot them so I turn mine off when I am not using them. I have trouble logging on. Have to use pulldown menu to find login page.watch my WiFi icon it will have an exclamation mark until I use drop down menu to find log in page it doesn't come up automatically for me. Bandwidth is the only problem I have for not staying online. Have you added an SD card for more memory? I had to clear some of my apps. basic memory fills fast that can drop off net sometimes.
• Idk I'm having trouble with streaming videos online. I think it is just the software. I think because they limit the apps to only the Amazon app store, and the apps on the app store suck. That's my best guess.

HOW DO YOU TRANFER PHOTOS AND CONTACTS FROM MY KINDLE HD 8.9" TO THE KINDLE NEW 10"
• Contacts are normally stored on your mail server, in my case on a Google gMail server. Once you setup your eMail account on your new Kindle Fire 10, your contacts will automatically be available. Pictures can be retrieved from the Amazon cloud server where they are automatically backed up to and you can sync these pictures between devices. But you could also use the USB charger cable to plug your Kindle Fire 8.9 into your computer's USB port and view it's contents using File Explorer. You could then copy the pictures you want place on your new Kindle Fire 10 to a temporary folder on your computer. Then you would connect your Kindle Fire 10 to your computer using the same technique and copy the pictures from the computer's temporary folder to the Kindle Fire 10.

I have found the number of available apps at the Amazon app store to be much more limited than at Google Play. You can go into setup for the tablet and choose to install apps from outside sources which will allow you to install apps outside of what is available in the Amazon app store. My favorite productivity apps are Office Mobile and OfficeSuite.

• I have both the HDX 8.9 and the HD 10. The 8.9 has more RAM, but limited storage. The HD 10 has less RAM, but has a removable SD card for storage. That said, I have found that the SD card can cause the HD 10 operating system to hang up, and you have to reset. If you want to store media on several cards and switch them out, the the HD 10 will work great. But the 8.9 processes faster. I got the HD 10 for vision needs and it works great for me.
• It seems to be fast with photos stored on the Amazon cloud and with reading but the Internet browsing is wicked slow compared to my older kindle fire HD7.

Def. not kid proof. There are places that make the covers for kids tablets etc. Maybe a childs cover would be kid proof and protect the Kindle for you? A thought that might work.

• I've read in a darkened room without any issues (the ambient light from the screen display enables easy reading, at least for me). Reading outside may be an issue without first adding an anti-glare screen protector. If you do that, a reduction in character resolution clarity may occur. • Return your Kindle Fire 10.1 is just a piece of garbage... Waste of time and money. Sorry to be so drastic but this is the worst table I ever had in my hands.

• I don't know. I use my Fire TV to stream shows. I have watched a couple of shows on my Kindle but not streamed to my tv.

• Yes. Very well. If you have Skype or MS username & ZPassword you can use either of them. Download the skype. I am new to tablets & use it by intution.
