An AmazonBasics Havana Bronze Commercial Patio Review Won't Answer These 33 Questions

★★★★★ An AmazonBasics Havana Bronze Commercial Patio review will not answer these 33 questions. Get the truth from people who own an AmazonBasics Havana Bronze Commercial Patio, including the fact that it won't...

QUESTION: WHAT IS THE APPROXIMATE COVERAGE OF THIS HEATER?
• I would think that if you placed it next to a 6 seat picnic table and you placed it at one corner that 3-4 people would feel the effect. I'm bald and I can't sit next to it without a hat. I hope that gives you some idea. If you are in an area that was a lot of wind you will probably only want the "Women Folk" sitting near it, as only about 2 people will feel the effect. :-) But I like ours for my 89 yr.old Mother's comfort.
• About 6 feet from poll. Ours sits on pebble rocks, so if you had in on a concrete slab, there may be more coverage.
• Keeps an area of about 10 square feet comfortable.
• I think it would depend on how cold it is outside. I purchased it for my son who took it to a camping fest in the early summer. It was used in a large group setting in the Colorado mountains. I believe aproximately 15 to 20 people were able to stand around it and receive at least some warmth from it. Obviously those closer benefited more than those further away. While it was on his patio I sat close to it, maybe a few feet away, and felt the warmth without any problems. Sorry I cannot be more specific. I hope that helps!
• The coverage of the heater is heavily dependant on the temperature outside and wind speed. I can say that it puts out a tremendous amount of heat. We used it to heat an ouside dinner table for 6 and everyone was toasty. Heat output is also adjustable.
• Sit six feet from the heater and you're still feeling quite warm. Eight feet and things start to cool down a little, but you can still feel it's working and helping. That's about the useful range. Beyond that, I'd get a second heater.

QUESTION: IS THIS PATIO HEATER EASILY PORTABLE - FOR EXAMPLE TO A FOOTBALL TAILGATE?
• No
• In my opinion, this would be kind of tough to transport easily. There are tabletop options that might be easier to transport....
• No, it's very large. You would be better off looking at the table size heater.
• No to big.
• no
• it can be is you have a truck but with gas tank full it is going to be heavy
• Yes, if you have a pickup truck or long enough van.

QUESTION: CAN THE HEATER BE USED OUTDOORS UNDER A ROOF?
• This is made for outdoor use. The unit is pretty tall, 8 feet maybe? so I guess it would depend on how high the roof is. There would need to be sufficient space above the unit because it gets hot. If you have a high ceilinged gazebo it should work. Just keep an eye on the exhaust on top so it does not scorch your ceiling.
• I have a retractable awning that I use mine under when it's raining. I am ~7 inches away from the material. I was worried about the same thing but after holding my hand over the top ~2-3inches,,, I couldn't feel any heat what-so-ever. All the heat is sent down and to the sides. I also installed a radiant 30 foot long heater in a garage and the said I could mount this thing 3 inches from the ceiling. Now this got me worries and I went with 12". Fired it up and checked the heat while up on a scaffolding,,the same thing, couldn't feel any real heat 2" from the top of the deflector. Also, I use mine for when we sit outside and having that heat 8 feet in the air doesn't help so I remove 18" of the tube and reassembled the burner top. Works fantastic now and gets the heat where it need to be. I have it located behind the chairs so there is no head bumping of the unit
• It would need to be in an open air space with a tall roof. It needs to be ventilated and it does get warm on top. I'd personally look for a 12 foot roo .
• That's were I use it. I don't know how high the roof is but most heat comes out the sides

QUESTION: WE HAVE A CANOPY COVER. I HAVEN'T MEASURED IT YET BUT I'M CONCERNED WITH THE HEIGHT BEING 8'. ANY COMMENTS W/THE HEAT AT THE TOP OF THE UNIT OR TIPS?
• Ours is below a fan under a patio. The reflector works well in dissipating heat, we have not had a problem.
• All heat comes from top so anything close to it is going to get burnt, I have 5 like this model for outside patio at club and it burnt canopy that was at least 10' high.

QUESTION: I PURCHASED ONE OF THE HEATERS AND IT SEEMS IT DOESN'T FIT A STANDARD PROPANE TANK. DOES IT NEED A REGULATOR OR ADAPTER TO ATTACH IT TO A PROPANE TANK
• Mine works with a standard 5 gal tank and does not need anything but the tank.
• I had no problem fitting it to a 20lb tank with a universal valve. Valves have changed in recent years. If you have an older tank it may not fit.
• No adapter needed. In fact I refill by exchanging my empty tank at my local hardware store for a standard full one.
• I don't understand the problem The unit fits a standard 20 lb propane bottle. Perhaps something is missing?
• It fits our standard tank without any adapter.
• I purchased this for my son so I'm not sure but I don't recall him needing to get anything in addition to what came with the unit. He had it set up in an hour or so with no problems. Perhaps your unit is missing something? I would contact the seller and go through a parts inventory.
• As I needed a new propane tank I decided to use the service from the local grocery store and the tank fit perfect, no adapter just the standard 20# tank. I did keep some of the packing material to keep the tank from moving within the shroud, because I move it around a lot. Don't forget about that there are reverse threads for Propane.
• No problem for ours, someone asked about the gas consumption.... this is 46,000 BTU, so it does go through propane, but it does put out the heat! I'm bald and I can't sit under it on high :-)

QUESTION: WILL THIS KEEP MY HUSBAND WARM ENOUGH TO HAVE A CIGAR ON OUR DECK IN NORTHERN WISCONSIN WINTER?
• Just purchased heater, and it is awesome. I was laying out on my deck at 25 degrees and I was nice and toasty.
• Yes. It puts off quite a bit of heat.
• Our weather can't compare with yours but my Son-in-Law, (we got it for his birthday), says the heat zone reaches out several feet and during our recent 30 degree evening was toasty warm.

QUESTION: HOW MUCH ASSEMBLY IS REQUIRED AND IS IT DIFFICULT?
• It's not very difficult to put together. I think we had it all together in 30-45 minutes. I did need to stand on a ladder in order to fit the heat shield, but it wasn't bad. I bought it as a gift and put it all together. Everybody loves it.
• The assembly isn't too difficult. The hardest part is removing the protective coating from the polished parts.
• The whole unit comes in a nicely packed box, and does require assembly. Once I got inspired enough to actually put the unit together (by myself) ....following instructions, it took me about 40 minutes. I have used the heater a few times now and really like it. Lights easy and puts out a lot of heat. So, to answer your question; "is it difficult", I would say to follow the instructions, curse lightly, endure to the finish and then enjoy your new heater!
• It takes a little patients, probably the hardest part is the hood as it comes in sections. I built mine in the house on the carpet and installed the assembled hood once I had it outside. Instructions are just O.K. I would do it again if I needed more.

QUESTION: HOW LONG DOES A PROPANE CYLINDER LAST?
• I'm interested too! Im refilling my tank 3d time today since Christmas. Either it burns tons of gas (est 6-8 hours max on canister) or i have a leak. NOT happy about the efficiency. (And refiller says falling gas prices have not hit LP dealers yet, fyi).
• approx. 4-6 hours on full blast
• I am giving it as a gift so I'll let you know when we open it :)

QUESTION: HOW MUCH SAND DOES IT TAKE TO FILL?
• Does not look like it would take too much sand; I used water to fill the base, and it has held up well in everyday backyard type wind.
• You can use sand or water. Sand is better if it will be moved frequently. It is hard to fill the container once the unit is assembled and some water may spill when moved. I used water and it has worked fine with a couple of small moves. The container holds around a gallon of water. The opening is about a 1.5 inch diameter, so easy to fill with sand or water.
• a bag should be fine, but because I have mine on an enclosed back porch and it has the weight of a 5 gal propane cylinder on it I didn't put any sand in it.
• I actually filled it with water. If you fill it with sand, the container you fill is about the same size as the base that can purchased to hold a regular patio umbrella. It's plastic and the same concept as a patio umbrella base. Hope this helps. =)

QUESTION: THE KNOB WON'T TURN PAST 'HI' AND LOCK ON WHILE TRYING TO START. THE ONLY TIME IT WILL GO PAST HI IS WHEN THE KNOB IS NOT PUSHED IN.
• That's how it's supposed to work. Push in turn on high push igniter and hold for thirty seconds. After you release the knob you then can adjust to lower setting.
• Once I release the knob it immediately goes out. Who to call for tech help???

QUESTION: WHAT HEIGHT IS THE BASE AND WHAT DIAMETER IS THE MAIN STEM? I'M WONDERING IF IT'LL FIT THROUGH THE PARASOL HOLE IN MY PATIO TABLE. THANKS :-)
• No it won't, but the diameter is 2 1/2." I have repaired these for some customers... the unit is very susceptible to wind and would, more than likely, topple all but the heaviest tables. When not in use I secure my heater to a "stockyard" fence for sudden winds. The reflector top dish is almost 3 ft wide.
• The base is 29" Tall (maybe 29 1//2" at most). The diameter of the stem is 2 1/2". I don't know if I would put it in a table because for one you won't be able to lift the base (tank cover) up to access the propane tank that is underneath. Also if the weather gets windy I don't know if the wind would catch the top and could break the table (especially if it's glass). I would however purchase this heater because it works great!!! I hope this helped.

QUESTION: CAN YOU USE IT NEXT TO CHRISTMAS LIGHTS? MAYBE A FEET AWAY FROM THE EXTENDED RIM? PLEASE SUGGEST. THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR HELP!
• If they're low power, which most are, I would think for sure. If big outdoor lights I don't see why not
• I think that would be fine most of the heat is directed down from the reflector. I had it about a foot away under a canopy and it was ok...

QUESTION: CAN YOU USE THIS ON A COVERED PATIO?
• I have an enclosed porch with a 12 foot ceiling and works great out there. You need to make sure there's at least a little ventilation due to the output of CO2 but we love it!
• We have been using it on ours. The documents that come with it say that you need about 50 inches of clearance in all directions. Our covered area has a high roof, but I don't think that it's that far above it. Probably more like 30 inches here... I would definitely try to keep some horizontal room between it and anything that might melt, as it is quite warm.
• Yes you can use on a patio. It says to have a 3 foot clearance. I have a patio fan 2 feet away with no problem.. the heat come more down then up
• Only if your patio roof is about 15 feet tall and you can keep the heater 4 feet away from all walls. This is basically a controlled flame and will ignite combustible objects.

QUESTION: CAN THIS BE CONVERTED TO BURN NATURAL GAS?
• I would check with your gas supply company.
• NO, This is a Propane heater. Trying to convert this could prove to be dangerous. If you need any gas appliance questions answered contact kathia at bajagrills. We are Licensed gas experts. Thanks Kat.
• Randy.. I do have Natural Gas heaters ..here on Amazon,,, Kathia at bajagrills

QUESTION: WILL WATER FREEZING IN THE BASE BREAK THE PLASTIC CONTAINER? NOT SURE IF IT IS DESIGNED TO WITHSTAND THE PRESSURE OF THE ICE EXPANDING. THANKS.
• There is nothing plastic about this. Not understanding the question. Ours sits out all year and no we haven't had any issues. If that helps?
• I think that's a valid concern. We used sand in ours because we didn't want to risk it. You can pick up a small bag of playground sand at any hardware store.
• Answer by Christin is WRONG! The base (which holds your choice of sand, water, or both) is indeed plastic; based on the rather thin gauge of this vessel, I believe it is at risk of splitting if the liquid contents freeze. I recommend sand (it holds about half a 50-pound bag), or add pet-safe antifreeze (I did this for the base of a basketball goal -- it never froze in 12 years).

QUESTION: WHAT ARE THE DIMENSIONS OF THE PACKAGE THAT THIS ITEM SHIPS IN?
• It ships in a cardboard box completely unsamble. The item is protected very well with foam. Box dimensions are approximately 24" x15"x15" . Box is not that big . I actually was specting a bigger box .
• about 3 feet x 2 feet

QUESTION: CAN I PUT THIS ON MY COMPOSIT DECK WITHOUT WORRYING IT WILL MELT IT? DOES THE BOTTOM GET HOT OR JUST THE TOP?
• Just the Top, the bottom hold the propane tank. I would think it would be fine
• I would love to have a composite deck! Yes, the unit only warms from the top down so you're good to go!
• You won't have any problems with this heater on your composite deck. The actual heating unit is at the very top under the heat shield. The shield pushes heat down toward the ground and nearby people, but won't get hot enough to do anything to your deck.
• The bottom does not get hot. The heating element is in the top and the heat reflects downward off of fhe reflector hood.
• You will be fine, the bottom doesn't get Hot. This is a nice heater, you'll enjoy it!

QUESTION: SAFE FOR USE ON COVERED SCREENED IN PORCH?
• I would check with your local fire dept. Ventilation for carbon monoxide gas might be an issue.
• it has been here. I keep my fan turned on so it doesn't melt the blades that are over it however. it is about 3' from the screen and frame

QUESTION: COULD A 15 POUND GAS TANK BE USED LIKE THE ONE I USE FOR MY BBQ?
• Yes
• yes and I love this heater
• Yes, this is a really good patio heater. It lights easily and puts out a lot of heat over a wide area.
• this uses a 20lb tank. which is the standard for propane BBQ grills.
• don't see why not as long as valve hose regulator connects securely to the tank. Size of the tank shouldn't matter. I actually use my BBQ tank as the tank for this heater..
• We but the regular sized propane tank from our grill in it. I'm not sure what size it was, but it was the standard one you would get at any gas station.
• I got a 15 pound gas tank by accident but tried it out, it worked great. It just may not last as long as a 20 pounder.

QUESTION: CAN YOU USE A 30 LB TANK WITH THIS HEATER?
• don't think so cuz it won't fit in bottom of the heater-
• The compartment is sized for a 20 lb (5gallon) gas bottle.

QUESTION: DO YOU HAVE TO TAKE THE TANK OF GAS OUT BEFORE YOU ROLL IT TO A NEW LOCATION?
• Nope. Very easy to relocate.
• No.. The tank makes it a little heavier but still very maneuverable.. I use it often and roll it in and out of the garage. I've never taken the tank out prior to rolling it around.
• I don't. I make sure the gas is turned off and the heater is off before doing so.
• No. The way it sits under the base it cant come out when moving it
• No it is secured by a chain inside. It also has 2 wheels making it simple on smooth surfaces
• No. You can tip the unit and roll it around. The tank is secured within the unit.
• The tank sits on a platform inside. So you could wheel it to new location with it connected.

QUESTION: HOW TALL IS IT?
• 89 inches ,but i was able to cut mine down 8 inches,it was farily easy with hacksaw and some self tapping screws,
• About 7 feet

QUESTION: I JUST OPENED MY PURCHASE FROM LAST YEAR AND FIND I HAVE NO INSTRUCTIONS. WHAT DO I DO?
• Contact amazon customer service...bet they can get you instructions.
• Mine came with excellent directions. Tossed em so I don't have them now. Sorry!
• This review in YOuTube shows basically how to use it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T0Btx5dYU1I while you wait for the instructions from customer service.
• Mine came with instructions that were complete except that a bit od detail on how to actually fill the sand box in the base could have been better. Like the rest, I suggest contacting Amazon Customer Service for assembly instructions.

QUESTION: DOES THIS WORK WITH BLUE RHINO TANK
• Yes
• Yes. I use one. It will work with any 20lb tank.
• Yes, so long as it's Propane

QUESTION: CAN YOU JUST SEND A REPLACEMENT PIECE THAT IS MISSING INSTEAD OF RETURNING THIS ITEM? THE PIECE THAT HOLDS THE WATER WILL NOT HOLD WATER
• I do not know, i did not have a problem with any of the three i ordered. You may have to contact amazon directly.
• Save yourself some effort and just buy a bag of sand, then if it leaks you can use duct tape to fix it. I bet it will be a job to get the replacement part. Good Luck.
• maybe use sand instead of water as the base
• I bought it two days before my party and one of the bases would not hold water. I purchased a bag of the small pebbles and it worked perfect.
• What is the size?

QUESTION: CAN THIS DISASSEMBLE FOR STORAGE?
• If you want to take it apart...don't think so
• I don't this so, but not 100 % sure.

QUESTION: WANT TO USE THIS IN MY FAMILY'S GARAGE IN UPSTATE NY DURING THE WINTER,IS THIS ADEQUATE HEAT? IT'S A ONE CAR WOODEN GARAGE WITH A HIGH CEILING.
• I would not use it inside as the directions clearly state "For outside use only"
• The heater puts out a substantial amount of heat. I'm fairly confident it would warm the space you describe. The problem is one of safety. The heater is designed for outdoor spaces. Using it in an enclosed space is dangerous according to everything I've read.
• Great heater for outside casual use... not a good choice for an inside space,

QUESTION: IS THE ROUND HOOD BRONZE OR SILVER?
• Silver.
• Mine is silver--brushed
• Silver

QUESTION: HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO HEAT UP?
• Quite quick!
• Heat up very fast. As soon it starts up.
• As you start it... which takes about 1 minute, it is then putting out approximately 1/2 capacity. After it is lit turn it up to high and it is ready to go; please remember this is a reflective type of heat source and does not "blow-out" of the heater it is radiant, so it is fully working virtually from the "get-go." If you are bald like me I always start the heater with a hat on as the heat is very hot after about 30 seconds. I had our on last night and it was nice.

QUESTION: HOW TALL IS UNIT WHEN PUT TOGETHER
• 7'6"
• About 8 feet.

QUESTION: HOW DO I KEEP THE BURNER LIGHTS ON? THEY GO OFF AS SOON AS I LET GO OF THE CONTROL KNOB, EVEN THOUGH IT'S ON HIGH
• My dad had to take off that hole peace and one of the little mini gaskets was blocking my dad had to take off that whole plate peace and one of the little mini gaskets was blocking the air way for the propane
• You have to hold the button down long enough for the sensor to warm up then once it does you can let go of the button and turn the knob to the desired level

QUESTION: DOES IT COME WITH HOSE TO HOOK UP 20LB TANK?
• yes
• Yes

QUESTION: COULD THIS BE USED TO HELP US MELT SNOW IN AN OUTSIDE COURTYARD? IT IS DIFFICULT SHOVELING THE SNOW OUT!
• I live in San Diego, so snow is not my expertise. However, I don't think this would help. We use it when is low 60's outside and we have to wear sweaters to keep warm. They work well to keep a small are warm (or not as cold)
• I can't envision any scenario where this 6+ foot high heater could be used to melt snow unless it was buried in 6 foot deep snow itself.

QUESTION: WHAT IS THE AMAZON ASIN NUMBER FOR THIS PRODUCT?
• The ASIN is B00LILH3V4

Lowest price as of today is on Amazon.com, click here: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00LILH3V4/?tag=blog-amazonbasics-answers-20
