An Amazon Fire TV Review Won't Answer These 101 Questions - Part 3 of 4

★★★★★ An Amazon Fire TV review will not answer these 101 questions. Get the truth from people who own an Amazon Fire TV , including the fact that it won't...

QUESTION: AFTER PURCHASING THE BOX, DO WE NEED TO PAY MORE LIKE A MONTHLY SUBSCRIPTION OR AS LONG AS YOU PAY FOR YOUR ACCOUNT YOUR GOOD?
• I belong to amazon prime so I watch movies from there.
• No monthly fee for amazon (if you have prime). The only fees are to things like HBO, Netflix, etc..
• There are no further fees once you have the box. If you use anything like netflix, hulu, or sling you will incur a monthly fee. you would need to renew your prime account if you have one in order to keep it.
• If, for example, you've subscribed to Netflix streaming, the addition of the Fire does not change your subscription rate. In other words, it's transparent. If, however, you have no subscriptions, then you will have to sign up. If you are a Prime member, you can stream Prime instant video.
• If you have prime, there is no additional fees for prime movies and music.

QUESTION: CAN YOU GET VUDU AND GOOGLE PLAY MOVIE APPS ON IT
• Nope.
• VUDU yes, sortof...although the app isn't available, your movies are really purchased through Ultraviolet and you can link them to the Flixster app which is available on Fire TV, Disney movies purchased on VUDU can be linked to the Disney Movies Anywhere app that is also available for the the Fire TV Google...no idea.

QUESTION: DO I NEED A ROUTER, OR A MODEM?
• Yes. The Fire TV needs to connect to the internet. Wireless (WiFi either band) or ethernet. Your choice.
• You need a network to access the internet
• Yes you need both.
• In most homes you would want both devices. There are, though, devices sold that combine both functions into one device. The only way that a user could use Fire TV with ONLY A MODEM would be if the only Internet device in your home is the Fire TV. And the Fire TV would have to be very near the modem in order to connect them with a fairly short cable (like 6-12 feet.) So if you have a computer, and/or a smart phone, and/or a tablet (etc.) you need both a modem and a router (or a combination device). It's much more practical that way. A router provides Wi-Fi to a user and wired Internet access; a modem just provides wired Internet access near the modem.

QUESTION: I CAN'T GET THE VOLUME WORKING ON MY FIRE TV, WHY IS THAT?
• The volume is controlled on the device you are watching the Fire TV with
• I haven't had that problem, but I rely on my TV remote for volume. That's my only suggestion. Good luck.
• Hey fred, volume on the fire tv is separate your volume from your tv remote is what determines volume---hope this helps Jim!

QUESTION: CAN YOU US AMAZON ECHO TO CONTROL IT? LIKE I WANT TO USE ALEXA ON THE ECHO TO SEARCH ON THE TV.
• Not yet.
• The new Amazon Fire TV uses Alexa to do searches. You don't need the Echo to control the Fire TV.
• Unfortunately not. I don't know if Amazon intends to fix this at a future date (I hope so) but right now the TV search will fail if you use the Echo trigger i.e. "Alexa, find Gotham" etc. Only "Find [video title]" is working (without the Alexa trigger) and only through the remote. On the other hand the remote that's included is the same as the $40 Echo remote so you can use the FireTV remote to control the Echo. I put my FireTV and remote in my bedroom and use the remote to turn the bedroom lights on and off from across the house, so there is some integration between the two, just not the one we want at this point.

QUESTION: DO YOU NEED A SMART TV .?
• It does not matter if your TV is smart or not. Only that it has an HDMI input.
• No
• Nope. The Amazon Fire TV is the smarts.
• No, Amazon Fire TV makes a non smart tv smart...it can also be used on a smart tv. The reason people buy streaming devices like Amazon Fire Tvs because they don't have a smart tv and they want it to be smart.

QUESTION: I HAVE ALL MY AV EQUIPMENT IN THE BASEMENT OF THE HOUSE. HOW CAN I CONFIGURE THIS SO THE REMOTE IS IN THE ROOM WITH THE TELEVISION, BUT THE BOX ISN'T
• From what I understand the remote is either Bluetooth or RF. Depending on distance you might get lucky. I actually tied all my stuff together with the Harmony Smart Hub and smartphone app.
• The Harmony Hub is the way to go. Uses bluetooth to IR and have many styles of remotes or just use your phone to control everything. Since you already have the repeaters, you are almost done. All the codes are automatically sent to the Hub via the internet. And live people help if needed.
• If you have wifi coverage where your tv is installed you can use the Fire TV app with your cell phone or tablet. The app is a bit sensitive but it works.

QUESTION: DOES FIRE STICK WORKS WITH KODI?
• Amazon has dropped support for Xbox Media Center (XBMC/Kodi) a few months ago. You can still buy devices on Amazon with Kodi installed. Sideloading is possible just like anything, but it's unsupported and you are on your own. Reports of audio issues with Fire OS 5 and Kodi.
• Sorry I don't know. But we love our Amazon fire TV box

QUESTION: IS THE LOCAL NEWS SATIONS INCLUDED OR ARE THEY A SEPERATE MONTHLY SUBSCRIPTION FEE? (NBC, CNN, ETC.)
• This is not a cable TV box. All items are streaming via apps through the internet. Some are pay some are free. Some apps don't work unless you have a cable TV provider.
• Local broadcasts are not on the internet. Since your HDTV is required by law to have a digital tuner, just use an antenna plugged into the coax on the back of your set. All your local signals are free and in digital HD. You can find the stations available on antennaweb.org and enter your zip code.
• They are separate. Local stuff is hard to get unless you have cable or receive the channels from the airwaves. CNN, ESPN, etc you can get from Sling TV but you have to pay extra. The Amazon Fire TV is awesome though. We'll worth the cost, especially if you have Amazon Prime

QUESTION: WHAT IS THE USB PORT USED FOR?
• I also use it to charge my Kindle Fire HDX or my Nexus 7. Both are used to mirror or second screen on the Fire TV as well as a remote if I lose the standard remote in the couch.

QUESTION: WILL I BE ABLE TO ACCESS MY RIGHT NOW MEDIA SUBSCRIPTION ON THIS DEVICE TO VIEW ON MY TV?
• The subscription you have needs to write an app for the Fire TV for it to be available. The software development kit (SDK) is free from Amazon and Amazon can host their app if needed. Check with your service to find if they have written an app. There are well over 4,000 for the Fire TV and many times more for the Kindle. You can search for them under the Amazon app section.
• Not right now but according to their website they are working on it
• Officially, no. Here's the link to describe it: https://support.rightnow.org/entries/33524390-What-devices-can-I-use-to-stream-RightNow-Media-#Fire_TV However, if you're familiar with enabling side-loading Android apps on Fire TV then you can do it with the Android Chromecast app on Fire TV.

QUESTION: I AM IN DOMINICAN REPUBLIC. CAN I TO USE IT?
• Here is where the Fire TV works.... https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201624360
• Yes of course, it will allow you to put in your country in the setup menu, and of course you need internet access! Good luck

QUESTION: DOES IT SUPPORT 10BIT PLAYBACK AND OUTPUT TO HDMI?
• Yes it uses HDMI output. As far as the 10 bit playback...some have said they have had success with Kodi and MX. I can't verify that myself, but it seems some of the popular streaming content with this encoding can only be 720p max. 1080 appears to overload the cpu. Again, I've not tried it myself....here's a link to a few that have better knowledge of what they have been able to accomplish using the FireTV in this way. https://www.reddit.com/r/fireTV/comments/2p4ceb/my_report_hi10p_aka_10bit_encoded_video_on_kodi/ (just copy and paste the link) I know the 10 bit encoding can be very taxing on your resources, but some have done a nice job in getting around some of the limitations of the hardware. Hope this helps...
• HDMI is supported.
• yes it connects using hdmi

QUESTION: CAN I RUN MY COMPUTER GAME'S ON MY COMPUTER, BUT PLAY IT THROUGH THE FIRE BOX ONTO, AND PLAY ON MY TV.? I HOPE THAT YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT I'M ASKING.
• Most people who do that simply use an HDMI cord. I don't know of any app that would work on the Fire TV.
• No. There is no direct interaction between your computer activity and the Fire TV box.
• No.

QUESTION: WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THIS AND APPLE?
• 1. The new Fire TV supports 4k. Apple TV only supports up to 1080P 2. The new Apple TV can control your TV i.e. Turn it on and off as well as volume control. Even the new Fire TV can't do this 3. The new Apple TV's remote is required to work with all games. Some games for Fire TV require a separate game controller. 4. Apple TV does not have Amazon Prime Video which is huge. 5. Apple TV's storage is not expandable via SD card 6. Apple TV is more expensive, especially when you want more storage 7. Apple TV integrates better with other Apple products such as iPad, iPhone, Mac, and even iCloud
• This one works great if you have Amazon Prime to watch all the movies, display your photos (unlimited storage for Prime members)
• The voice search with the remote control is great

QUESTION: WHEN WATCHING A LIVE SPORTS PROGRAM, SLING, CAN YOU PAUSE AND THEN PICKUP LATER?
• no I could not pause ESPN in SLING with FireTV
• Don't think so, we don't have sling though. Couldn't do it on FoxGo.
• No, sling sort of sucks but since I cut the cord I need it for Walking Dead. It's like regular TV and you have to watch when they air the program

QUESTION: CAN THIS DEVICE SUPPORT EXTERNAL USB STORAGE, AND PLAY FROM SAID STORAGE? CAN THIS DEVICE PLAY FROM A LOCAL AREA CLOUD DEVICE HOSTING MEDIA FILES?
• You can use apps for external storage on the USB. Here is the info from Amazon.... https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201739980 There is no file explorer on the Fire TV since it uses internet input. The app you choose needs to do that and have the codec you need if not one the Fire TV has built in. The Plex app is popular and is fully supported by Amazon. But there are many nowadays.
• As mentioned, I use the Plex app to stream movies, tv shows, etc. from external storage on my wireless network to the Fire TV (no direct connect). No issues at all for playback.

QUESTION: WILL IT WORK OUTSIDE OF US?
• Yes it will work in all of these countries so far..... https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201624360
• Depends on what youre doing it. There are workarounds
• Yes All apps will works outside the US BUT NETFLIX

QUESTION: WILL THIS VERSION OF AMAZON FIRE TV EVER BE BACKWARDS COMPATIBLE WITH EARLIER VERSIONS OF HDCP?
• The studios that control all 4K media content, Require 2.2 HDCP for all 4K content transmitted over the internet. The Fire TV can work with any copy protection provided.
• Here is the info regarding 4K and 2.2 HDCP .... http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201859000
• Yeah, I already read all that- doesn't answer my question. In some of the reviews, besides the need for the obvious software patches on this beta version of Fire TV, people have had trouble viewing content because of their HDCP 2.2 incompatibility on their TV. Some reviews have stated that without HDCP 2.2, the content is not in HD at all.

QUESTION: HOW CAN I MIRROR MY IPAD WITH FIRE TV?
• Download video and tv cast on the App Store, I haven't tried it yet but it should work!
• I don't have an iPad - web search h looks like you need to install a reflector app on the iPad. But again... I don't have an iPad :-(
• Go to setting on you Fire TV and one of the selections is for mirroring.

QUESTION: IS THE REMOTE CONTROL ON THE FIRE TV BLUETOOTH ONLY OR DOES IT ALSO WORK WITH AN IR REMOTE? (BOX, NOT THE STICK THOUGHT I SUSPECT THE SAME REMOTES)
• The 1st gen AFTV has a bluetooth remote. The 2nd gen has a WiFi remote. There is no IR output on the remote or input on the box. There is CEC on the box or stick and can use your TV remote for most functions except voice. Most TV remotes don't have a mic. The change was made to the 2nd gen since the Game Pad has headphone output and there is latency in the bluetooth profile. But the Fire TV series has never had an infrared remote.
• only bluetooth
• My 2011 Samsung HDTV does not have Bluetooth capabilities, just IR, (unless I add an additional Bluetooth capability external device, which I did not). Fire TV remote works flawlessly on my HDTV. Michael...

QUESTION: WILL THIS SEE AND PLAY MOVIES THAT I HAVE ON A LOCAL SERVER
• Just content on the internet. You need an app like Plex for media server playback.
• There's very limited third party device support, presently. There is an Ethernet connection, but no available software, to connect to a server.. You might be able to sideload something like Plex?

QUESTION: DOES IT WORK ON A TABLET
• No. It plugs into your HDTV.
• I'm not sure what you are trying to ask. The Amazon Fire TV is a stand alone device that hooks up to your television, it is not an app to install. If you are asking whether a tablet can work as a controller of Fire-TV, I have heard that it does, but I haven't tried it myself. If you are asking whether a tablet can cast programming to the Fire-TV, it can but only to limited devices. If you are wanting to install something that can receive television on your tablet, you will need to look for something other than Fire-TV.
• I tried to connect to an older tablet and it did not work but it may work on newer models. So I am not sure. However, if you download the Amazon app you should have access to everything on your tablet like with computers.

QUESTION: CAN I PURCHASE (RENT) MOVIES FROM AMAZON AND DOWNLOAD THEM TO THIS DEVICE FOR REMOTE PLAYBACK?
• There is no off line mode or way to store anything other than apps on the Fire TV.
• what ever you purchase, you can download (on second generation) as you have 5gig free to cloud. There is also a mini card slot that will accept 128 gig storage

QUESTION: WILL IT WORK IN THE CARRIBEAN COUNTRIES?
• Yes, but... It's all about the content you can get. The most popular ones like Netflix and Amazon will have content tailored to local region if they allow you to sign up. Others would be unavailable. To the rescue comes knowledge about VPN networks (that need to be at the router level implemented most likely since I am not aware of any software doing that on FTV itself) and sideloading of Kodi. In fact Kodi will save the day and FTV anywhere in the world because all you need is a decent Internet connection. Not for a neophyte you need to invest time to install and handle KODI and its countless plug-ins.

QUESTION: IS ALEXA ONLY ON MOST RECENT FIRE TVS?
• Here is the info Amazon has on Alexa on the Fire TV and the software updates.... https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201859020
• Yes, Alexa is only on the 2nd gen. version which just launched.

QUESTION: DO YOU HAVE TO HAVE CABLE TV OR CAN YOU JUST RUN IT THROUGH YOUR ENTERNET?
• No cable TV required. You need either a WiFi or hard wired Ethernet connection to allow the FireTV to connect to the Internet. Indeed one of the common use cases is to bundle the FireTV with some paid programming like Hulu, Amazon Prime and Netflix in order to forgo paying for cable TV entirely.
• I never received my fire tv box which I purchased on Amazon so how in the world would I know what to say to you Betty S.
• run through home wi-fi system ...
• No you don't have to have cable just the Internet and if you know someone the have kodi you can watch anything. Having that fire you don't need cable it have everything you watch on cable.but kodi let you watch everything and movies that are still at the movies.

QUESTION: WORKS WINDOWS 10 MIRACAST - MIRRORING SCREEN?
• Screen mirroring is in both the origional and the new firetv. But i have not tried it with windows 10 as of yet
• The only info I can offer is that my Samsung Galaxy phone and Samsung tablet are nicely compatible with Fire TV screen mirroring (casting). (Those are Android devices, of course.)

QUESTION: CAN YOU GET YOUR LOCAL CANNELS ABC CBS AND NBC
• Yes, but I don't know if is live
• No, use an antenna. There are ways you can on fireTV but it's too complicated to explain here.
• Local stations are not on the internet. You use a digital antenna plugged into the coax on the back of your HDTV. Stations are free and in digital HD with no internet bandwidth required. Or you can pay for them with a cable service.
• No, unless you have a cable subscription, but then whats the point you will already have them.
• With an antenna. Also, you will need an Internet connection. Comcast offers that connection and include local stations. Others likely offer the same.
• Yes you can. Use an antenna and connect to Coax plug. There might be other ways to use apps that require a subscription.

QUESTION: IS IT POSSIBLE TO SIDELOAD XBMC/KODI AND USE IT LIKE ON MY FIRESTICK?
• Anything is possible. Turning your Fire TV into a coaster with the info I see on YouTube is more likely.
• Yes you can ....goto YouTube and search for how to do it. You need to do some homework yourself as its not hard but not something someone here can fully explain.

QUESTION: WHAT IS THE USB PORT USED FOR?
• I have a wireless computer keyboard that connects to the Fire TV box via the USB port. It's very useful for typing in logins and passwords for streaming accounts like Netflix, Hulu, You Tube, Sling, etc. I can also use the keyboard in the Fire TV Search box. With the keyboard I don't have to use the tedious arrow keys on the remote to enter words and numbers on the screen.
• It can be used for some game pads. Also can charge your Kindle HD which I use as a remote.
• According to Amazon, on the 2d generation Fire TV, the USB port can be used to "open personal music, video, and photo files stored on a compatible USB flash drive using supported third-party apps. A MicroSD port is available if you need extra storage space for apps and games."

QUESTION: IS THERE A MONTHLY CHARGE FOR FIRE TV?
• There is no fee to own the Fire TV. It's not like a cable box. More like your computer or TV. Optional services can have fees if you subscribe to them. Popular ones are 8~12/mo for all you can watch.
• No there is not
• No. But if you get apps for streaming of coarse there is a monthly charge.

QUESTION: DO YOU NEED CABLE OR SATELITE TO USE?
• I don't have either. Just an antenna for local broadcasts in HD and more than one streaming device. Some apps require a provider, but so much to watch without getting overcharged by a cable/sat service. All you need is internet.
• No, just internet connection.
• No, just an internet connection. Joining Amazon prime will give you addition choices.
• No as far as I understand it was wireless
• Just a decent modem and the Internet is supposedly is all you need
• And end up streaming Hulu Netflix and the UFC fight on the Xbox one and it worked fine no skipping clear picture and a very good refresh rate so my suggestion is to not buy this garbage and just buy an Xbox one
• no but you need internet access preferable wi-fi

QUESTION: IN WHAT COUNTRIES OUTSIDE THE US THOSE THIS WORK??
• These are the countries Amazon says, so far.... http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201624360
• Japan for sure but I am not sure about any other countries outside United States.

QUESTION: DO I NEED AN AMAZON TV BOX OR FIRE STICK FOR EACH TV IN THE SAME HOME?
• Yes, if you want to watch streaming content on every TV in your house.
• yes it is plugged into the HDMI on the particular set you want to watch.
• No you don't need one for each tv. I think that's personal preference. For my downsizing household with grown kids, now gone, for me I am getting rid of the extra AT&T U-Verse boxes except in my family room and my bedroom. I have the FireTV box which is primarily for my bedroom. I also have the fire Stick which I plan on using when I travel, but have also installed in bedrooms when I have guests. The same can be done for less cost in rooms in your home. Rather than paying for extra DVR boxes in infrequently used rooms
• Yes - it's tv specific.

QUESTION: CAN THIS BE PLUGGED INTO A ROUTER INSTEAD OF WIRELESS
• Yes, that's how mine is hooked up. Works great and more secure.
• Yes. That's the reason I bought it so Its hard wired in and it streams better
• Yes, it has an Ethernet port, you can use a Ethernet cable to connect it to your router.
• Yes can be plug direct into a router

QUESTION: IS THE FIRE TV COMPATIBLE WITH AC WI-FI?
• Yes, and is dual band.
• It does support ac wifi standard, according to the spec. But your router needs to be ac capable as well, otherwise it will revert to the older standard.
• Yes is "talks" MIMO 802.11a/b/g/n/ac
• I am using a Netgear nighthawk that uses AC. It is also dual band. The streaming is flawless.
• Yes
• Absolutely!
• Yes! Works great! BUT.... But I absolutely STRONGLY suggest you use an ethernet wire, from your router to the fire TV box if you want to use ultra high definition 4K video (if your current TV supports that). If Ultra High Def 4K is not a requirement for you, then standard high definition will work fine over wifi.

QUESTION: HOW MANY "ESPN"S DOES THIS CARRY?
• Here is the app for the Fire TV. All the details are included in the description.... WatchESPN for Fire TV
• I haven't figured that out yet. I think you need a subscription to get any of them.

QUESTION: DO I NEED 1 BOX FOR EACH TV IN MY HOUSE?
• Yes.
• Yes...the box connects via hdmi to your tv...it doesn't send signal wirelessly to another tv...you would need additional boxes for additional tvs
• I believe you do.
• If you have a internet connection to each TV you don't have to have Amazon Fire TV (extra boxes) for each TV. Unless other person is using the Amazon Fire TV(box)
• Yes. I sent mine back because it was failing to function properly...dropping of the internet and buffering alot even with a good signal. I preferred the first version Amazone Fire to this one. I also prefer Apple TV over the Fire product and find that system much more reliable.
• Yes, that is for convenience only, or you could keep transferring the one stick from from to room.

QUESTION: WILL IT WORK IN THE VIRGIN ISLANDS
• You will have to call or email Amazon to find out. The people on this forum are owners of the fire tv stick or box and not Amazon employees.
• I can not confirm but i do not see a reason why will not work. As long you have internet you this equipment works world wide just like a regular computer

QUESTION: IS IT POSSIBLE TO PLUG IN A PORTABLE HARD DRIVE TO THE USB PORT AND WATCH MOVIES SAVED ON THE HARD DRIVE?
• No.... https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201739940
• According to this, you can watch movies using a 3rd party app. I checked and you can download the VLC app for the Fire TV and that should work. The only thing that concerns me is that Amazon says the external drive has to be 128GB or smaller and my portable hard drives are all bigger. https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html/ref=hp_left_v4_sib?ie=UTF8&nodeId=201739980

QUESTION: DOES IT WORK IN EGYPT?
• Amazon says it works in these countries.... https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201624360
• After reviewing I am changing my answer to NO!
• [Deleted by the author on Nov 26, 2015 5:51:20 AM PST]

QUESTION: WIRELESS WIFI?
• If you have an internet router with WiFi, the Fire TV stick can use either band 2.4G or 5G. Has up to ac protocol and wired ethernet is also available for secured networks as well.
• Yes
• Yes.
• Because my Fire was positioned right beside my router/modem, I initially used wired ethernet connection. However, every time I switched from HDMI-1(Cable box) to HDMI-4 (Fire),I had to reconnect to the network.I removed the ethernet connection and let the Fire wireless take over--problem solved.
• wifi means wireless.
• Yes
• The Fire TV supports both wireless and wired Ethernet. The Fire Stick supports wireless only. Each way works very good, depends on your WiFi bandwidth. I have 70 mgbs and it works but I suggest no less.

QUESTION: DOES IT REQUIRE AN HDTV?
• Yes. The Fire TV needs an HDMI to display on your TV.
• All I can say is it requires an HDMI input on the set. So I would think it does. Don't know for sure.
• As long as your TV has an HDMI outlet you are good to go. With HDTV you get better quality.
• Yes, the output is through an HDMI cable

QUESTION: MY NETWORK BANDWIDTH USAGE HAS SHOT-UP WAY TOO FAST SINCE ACQUIRING THIS DEVICE. ARE THERE ANY KNOWN BUGS THAT MAY CONTRIBUTE?
• Streaming with any device uses 1 to 5G/hr depending on the compression your ISP uses. I have several brands and they all use about the same amount of data.
• Not that I know of ...it's still running smoothly to me
• The device anticipates what you might want to watch so it downloads some things in anticipation so they can start right away if you play them. This would account for extra bandwidth being used.
• it depends on how many devices you have accessing your router at the same time, older router may not keep up. If you are watching movies in HD this will increase your download demands, I hope this was helpful.

QUESTION: WILL THE 2ND GEN SUPPORT PLAYING MEDIA FROM A NAS?
• The 2nd Gen works with Plex for NAS & computer server streaming like the original. The Roku series can be used with a few formats for USB connected media i understand.
• I believe it may. You can add an external harddrive directly to the unit so if works like that then yes.

QUESTION: CHOOSING LANGUAGE HI LITES GERMAN AND CANNOT GET IT TO HI LITE ENGLISH. HOW DO I GET IT TO MOVE?
• Touch the Up section of the Directional Navigation. Here is a link for all the controls on the remote.... https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201452700
• Have you done a complete reboot? If not I would try that.
• Scroll up or down with the circle. By pushing the top or bottom of the circle at the top of the remote. Than when you get what you want press ok by pushing the center of the circle.
• If the show you are watching is not available in English it will not be displayed as an option. Subtitels in English may be all you will get.

QUESTION: DO I HAVE TO PAY FOR PROGRAMS WITHOUT PRIME?
• Non-Prime shows are available for rental or purchase.
• Yeah u do. Its better with prime. But netflix has a better selection of shows. Theres good an bad about it just like everything. But check it out an see if they have stuff u like to watch before u commit urself to it.

QUESTION: WHY WILL THE NEW GAME CONTROLLER NOT SYNC TO THE NEW FIRE TV ? I HAVE UPDATED THE DEVICE . ON OFF , NEW BATTERIES , RUN OUT OF THINGS TO TRY ..
• http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201452760 http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201452590
• Is this the first device or the second device. I do not know if a second device is automatically recognized. If this is a second device try settings blue tooth devices and add the device.

QUESTION: WHEN I WANT TO WATCH AMERICAN HORROR STORY, I JUST ASK FOR THAT ON THE VOICE REMOTE
• Yes if it is on prime it will find it.
• The voice control/search only searches against Amazon Prime so yes it will find it if it's available in Amazon Prime.
• As long as Alx understand your question . You will recieve a answer .

QUESTION: DO YOU HAVE TO USE THE REMOTE FOR THE VOICE COMMANDS OR IF I HAVE AN ECHO IN THE ROOM WILL IT AUTOMATICALLY CONTROL THE FIRETV ?
• You speak into the remote
• Talking to the remote works just fine...like they say speak into the mic
• Yes you need to use a remote control for voice command at all time.
• Voice command on Fire TV remote is very limited right now, i don't have an echo , but i don't think echo will control fire tv.
• So for I don't see the use of voice commands as it does not acknowledge what ever you say. Keep trying....
• Yes, you still have to use the Fire TV remote. I have an Echo which I love so much more than the FireTV. Wish they would've released FireTV with this feature. Hopefully it will be an upgrade soon.

QUESTION: CAN I STREAM IPOD
• I sent mine back but I doubt you would be able to stream from an iPod without additional software
• I'm assuming your asking if you can stream amazon video on your iPod. Yes you can with an Amazon video app. I stream all the time on my iPhone & iPad. You can also stream music with the music app.

QUESTION: DOES THIS HAVE ACCESS TO THE VUDU APP ITS WHERE I HAVE ALL MY MOVIES.
• There is no Vudu app and don't expect one. Vudu is owned by Walmart and won't write an app for the Fire TV.
• I'm also considering one and it appears to have Flixster and Disney Movies Anywhere (DMA). Given I believe all of my VUDU movies are either Ultraviolet backed or Disney, the combination of Flixster (also allows uses Ultraviolet for content) and DMA will allow me to access all of my content. I don't really need VUDU, just my movies that I purchased on it. I've tested it on my Android phone and it looks like my movies are all there; try it yourself. Note: you will need to link the various accounts though but it's relatively painless and takes just a few minutes.

QUESTION: NEED A NEW POWER CORD FOR FIRE BOX MODEL CL1130 IS THAT FIRST GENERATION OR SECOND?
• I'm sorry, I don't know the answer to that question. My advice is for you to contact Amazon.
• I also don't know. The picture shown is for 2nd generation, but I'm not sure where your question is coming from
• 2nd generation.

QUESTION: WHY MIGHT I BE HAVING ISSUES WITH PANDORA ON MY NEWEST AFTV? WORKED FINE ON MY GEN 1 BOX, I EVEN SEEE ALL OF MY "STATIONS" BUT I CAN'T GET IT TO PLAY.
• The 2nd Gen uses lollypop and Pandora has not upgraded their app from KitKat. It sounds like they are working on it right now. There are at least 500 Amazon employees working to identify issues and ultimately it's the responsibility of the developer. But sounds like all hands on deck to bring issues to the vendors. You might want to contact the Fire TV tech support to find when your issue will be resolved.
• Mine works fine, perhaps try uninstall Pandora and reload it and see if that works. I had initial issue with Netflix, I did same and it worked fine, hope this helps you.

QUESTION: I HAVE JUST ENTERED THE IPO ADDRESS, NOW WHAT?
• You just select the SSID for your network and enter your password.
• Edmund, Unless you are using a VPN, the grayed out IP address can be bypassed on an ethernet connection. The Fire TV is just reporting the IP address you are using.
• Click on the NEXT button

QUESTION: CAN I STREAM TO A DESKTOP WITH THE USB PORT?
• As far as I know you can't stream to the desktop using the USB port. You can attach USB keyboard, mouse and if you could managed to root the first gen before it was patch you can use an external usb hard drive, otherwise you can only use usb input devices. Hope this answer your question.
• Not sure why you would want to. Use the HDMI port to your monitor.
• Here is everything Amazon has on the USB and connecting it. A computer is not one of those things i'm afraid. Good Luck.... https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201740020
• you need to try it and see then let me no.
• Yes

QUESTION: I HAVE THE EARLIER MODEL OF THE FIRE TV. DOES THIS MODEL WORK BETTER WITH THE HULU AND HBOGO APPS? THESE HAVE BUFFERING ISSUES ON MY MODEL.
• I have both gen1 & 2. There is no difference. If you have buffering, it's due to your internet connection or WiFi.
• [Deleted by the author on Nov 8, 2015 9:25:29 PM PST]

QUESTION: PROBABLY A STUPID QUESTION BUT DO I STILL NEED WIFI?
• You can use an ethernet cord to your router/modem. That gives the fastest and more secure access to the internet if you chose.
• Yes wifi is required.
• No question is ever stupid! We use wifi with ours, but there is a phone jack slot on the back of the Fire TV box...so, I am assuming, it would work with internet via phone line only. Hope this helps...
• Yes the Amazin Fire works off your Wifi. I absolutely love it.
• no you don't if you have LAN line to connect in the back of the unit. I think this is the best way to provide internet for this unit. But if you want to get WIFI I would recommend that you get 15 mg for better streaming. Hope this answer your question.

QUESTION: WHY WON'T THE REMOTE WORK
• http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201452590
• a few possibilities.... batteries not inserted properly, batteries dead or the remote is dead. It should work out of the box.

QUESTION: WHAT TYPE OF AUDIO DOES IT SUPPORT?
• Audio will come through the tv any audio system you can connect directly to your tv.
• It has a light pipe audio connection and HDMI audio... Correction to my answer above. My unit is an old one and does have a light pipe audio connection. However, now that I look at the newer model Amazon is selling, the lightpipe has been removed and the only audio source I see is the HDMI. Just FYI
• You connect it to your TV using a HDMI connector, which carries the audio and video signal. So whatever audio is associated with the incoming video (probably standard 2-channel stereo) will be played through your TV speakers. If your TV has audio output, then the audio will be re-output via the TV output.

QUESTION: CAN I SURF THE INTERNET WITH FIRE TV?
• No browser on the Fire TV. Since no keyboard or mouse, would be a pain entering an http address anyway. You can use an android or Fire OS to mirror your browser, but not ideal on a TV. Much better viewing on a computer monitor IMHO.
• It's not designed for net browsing.

QUESTION: CAN YOU WATCH YOUTUBE AND BROWSE THE WEB WITH THIS THING?
• Yes you can , all you have to do is download the free app
• You can watch youtube effortlessly with its own pre-installed app, but I haven't tried to search the web. I did notice a couple hours ago that there is a Yahoo app now available. I will be glad to load it to see & will respond. It is great combined with Prime and normal viewing. I've owned it since Oct 5th and they have began to put out patches to improve the Dolby listening features. Hope this helps Ivan
• No,not that I know of
• You can watch You Tube and the interface is good. As for Browsing the internet, I have not seen anything that would let you do that.
• I have not tried to browse the web.

QUESTION: WAS IT WORTH IT, IF YOU UPGRADED FROM THE PREVIOUS MODEL? I'M MOSTLY CURIOUS ABOUT ALEXA VS. AUDIO SEARCH AND THE DIFFERENCE IN SPEED.
• There is no need to upgrade unless you are wanting 4K. Alexa will be added to 1st gen in Jan. Speed is about the same, blazing fast.
• I think I am happy so far thanks

QUESTION: IF I WANT TO WATCH SOMETHING LIVE, LIKE A GAME ON BIG TEN NETWORK, I CAN JUST DOWNLOAD THE APP AND WATCH LIVE VIA THE APP????
• I cannot watch anything because I bought the Fire Tv and it did not say anything that it is not supported internationally
• Only if you have a subscription to that network (if one is required). For example, I can download many apps for different networks, but they will prompt you to log in, either to your cable account or to your network specific account to verify that you are already a subscriber. Even if you are a subscriber, certain games may be subject to blackout rules (I am not an expert on those but I know for example that MLB games can be subject to blackout on the MLB app.) Hope this helps.

QUESTION: IS THERE A BROWSER?
• No browser or keyboard/mouse. It will mirror your android device if you need www access. Best in landscape mode.
• not like explorer or google, there is a search function. and I would highly recommend this product. even better if you have a prime account.
• You can side load Google

QUESTION: IS NETFLIX FREE
• Nope. You have to pay for Netflix if you want to watch it. The app is free, and the service is 7.99 to 12.99.
• You have to subscribe to Netflix but I believe you get a free trial
• Nope
• No, the Netflix streaming service is not free.
• the first month is, after that you pay a monthly fee with no limit on movies
• The Netflix App is loaded onto the Fire TV. However, you still have to subscribe to Netflix in order to use it, no differently than when using Netflix on your computer or other devices (like AppleTV). So "Netflix" is not "free" - it costs the monthly subscription fee like always. But, the app is pre-loaded on the Fire TV for you to log into and use (as is HULU).

QUESTION: WHAT TVS ARE COMPATIBLE ?
• Digital TV's with an HDMI input.
• I don't think all Digital TVs with HDMI inputs are compatible, not according to what Amazon says about HDCP version 2.2 compatible TVs being necessary to view content in 4K ultra HD. It's not backwards compatible with HDCP versions 2.0 and 2.1.

QUESTION: DO I HAVE TO REPLACE MY CURRENT FIRE TV TO GET THE 4K CONTENT? I HAVE A 4K TV, SO WASN'T SURE IF I NEED TO REPLACE MY CURRENT FIRE.
• Yes .. The previous fire device did not support 4K. I own this new version and it's well worth it
• Yes u will but trust me a very good picture. Worth the upgrade
• Yes but it's worth it. Plus, you can still just put your old one in the bedroom and still use it
• The latest fire TV box is a 4K (not the fire TV stick) and it will not display 4K content on older TV's which are not HDCP2.2 compliant, for example, I have a 2013 Seiki 4K TV, the highest it displays on it is 1080P.
• My best guess is "no." However, if you want 4K content, then you will want a 4K Fire TV.

QUESTION: DO YOU HAVE TO HAVE HDTV?
• Yes. Analog TV's built in the last century are not supported.
• Only if you want the HD content. I would look to get the fire stick if you don't have an HD tv
• Only if you want HD content if you don't have an HD tv get the fire stick. Priced less and pretty similar
• yes

QUESTION: IS THIS COMPATIBLE WITH APPLE DEVICES?
• The Fire TV does not use or need a computer. That's the point of the device. It will allow mirroring of android devices but that is secondary to streaming media direct from the internet and games for free or at low cost. There are apps that can be used to stream from a media server on an Apple/Windows/Linux or NAS such as Plex. But again, secondary to it's purpose of watching TV without firing up a secondary device and any complex interface. Just the Fire TV and the internet is all you need.
• The device streams directly from the internet. It has a USB port (I'm not sure if its input or output). It does not require a computer connection so Apple compatibility is irrelevant.

QUESTION: SO I WILL NEED A FIRE STICK FOR EACH TV DOES THE BOX SUPPORT THE OTHER TV OR DO I NEED A BOX FOR EACH ONE
• Yes, you will need one for each TV. You must connect the Fire Stick or Fire TV box to your TV with an HDMI cable and there's only one HDMI port per Fire device. Enjoy
• You need one for each tv.

QUESTION: DON'T YOU STILL HAVE TO PAY FOR THE NETFLIX AND OTHERS
• Netflix charges for their services. The Fire TV gives you 4K access to Netflix. Not free access though.
• Yes, you still have to pay for services like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon prime video, and so forth. Getting Amazon Fire tv doesn't give you those services for free. It's still a streaming device like some blu-ray players, smart tv's, Apple TV, roku, and many others, just to name a few.
• Yes but if you have Amazon prime they have allot of movies and stuff like Netflix.
• Yes, you still have to pay for 3rd party subscriptions.
• Yed
• Yes that is correct; but you can down load KODI or TVMC apps and get 10 times the movies & tv shows FOR FREE .

QUESTION: CAN THE FIRE TV BE CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET WITH A WIRE INSTEAD OF USING WIFI?
• You can use ethernet.
• you can connect with wire or wireless, you can choose.
• Yes, it has a port in the back. Though I haven't noticed a significant difference in speed or connectivity between wired and wireless.

QUESTION: WHAT LIVE TV NEWS CAN YOU WATCH ON THE FIRE TV? AND HOW?
• I had to buy an antenna for my tv to get local channels to watch the news. They are pretty inexpensive and easy to install
• CBS News has a live stream app for the Fire TV. Download and watch for free.
• Fire TV does not give all the local channels. I just bought Fire TV and a 50 mile antennae to go with it so we can watch all local broadcasts. I wanted to avoid actual monthly bills for viewing TV. We pay for Netflix which gets you NPR, BBC, and the news channel they have a deal with is NBC News. With a 50-mile digital antennae we get most local broadcasters in the San Francisco Bay Area. I pay for wireless, but not for full-service cable viewing.

QUESTION: DOES THE NEW FIRE TV *BOX*, NOT STICK, HAVE A REMOTE WITH PLASTIC OR RUBBER BUTTONS?
• yes, but the new remote is pretty cheesy compared to one six months ago.
• plastic buttons
• I don't know what you mean by "not stick" The box does come with a remote with rubber and plastic buttons

QUESTION: IF I CONNECT A EXTERNAL HARDDRIVE, WILL THIS UPSCALE THE VIDEOS TO UHD 4K OR ONLY FOR AMAZON/NETFLIX?
• If this 99 dollar device had those features, I'm sure they would be in the Amazon description. Here is the info about external storage from Amazon.... http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201739980
• I cannot answer the question. I cancelled my order.
• I don't know the answer, but looking at the specs for the USB 3.0 Fire TV. The file format is FAT32 which cannot handle the file sizes created by the 4K format. I believe FAT32 is limited to 4GB. Not enough to handle the storage requirements of 4K.

QUESTION: DOES IT HAVE BUILT IN DVR
• no
• It doesn't need one. You pick what you want to watch when you want to watch it. It has play, stop, ff, rewind, scene skip. In essence its already a DVR. You turn it on. Find what you want to watch and hit the play button. I am in love with this device.
• No

QUESTION: CAN YOU USE THE REMOTE FOR GAMES
• If you look at games apps, many can use the remote that is included with the Fire TV. More challenging ones do require the Game Pad (or work better with it). Hundreds of games work fine with the normal remote.
• Yes, you can use directional buttons and the others for games.
• They have a game controller for that sold separately. I think it's 34 bucks
• I think you can but I didn't try.
• Yes, as long as the remote is working properly you can use it for the basic games. I believe there is a more advanced gaming controller available but don't know much about it and don't have one.
• You can purchase a separate game controller.
• On some games yes but not all

QUESTION: I LOST THE SOUND; WHAT'S WRONG?
• How do you have it wired as to get the sound out you must go directly from the TV to the sound source
• http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201452570

QUESTION: HOW DO WE WATCH ON MULTIPLE TVS?
• Sorry, you can't. It's one Fire TV/Stick per TV. If you have a Fire TV in the Living Room but want to watch on a TV in the bedroom or elsewhere in the house, you will need to get another Fire TV/Stick.
• One box per tv
• Only one TV may be connected to the device.
• One box per tv
• You can use it with one tv at a time. If you want to use it in another room, you just disconnect from one tv and move it to the other tv.
• You can get an HDMI splitter or if you buy a dolby digital receiver that has two video outs you can use that. This would be for two TV's that are close together (10 feet or less apart etc)
• I believe you would need multiple Fire TV units.

QUESTION: WHAT DID OS 5.0.3.1 UPDATE FIX?
• Minor bugs and performance enhancements
• A Google search only brings up a few listings that it fixes bugs with some apps, surround sound systems and remote/game control connect issues. Amazon doesn't have any info on the "minor bugs" it is fixing.

QUESTION: WHICH CHANNELS ARE FREE AND WHICH REQUIRE A SUBSCRIPTION?
• Here is a list of free apps for the Fire TV. If a subscription is required, it will be listed in the description section. https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=sr_nr_p_36_0?fst=as%3Aoff&rh=n%3A2350149011%2Cn%3A%212445993011%2Cn%3A10208590011%2Cp_n_feature_nineteen_browse-bin%3A11643278011%2Cp_36%3A2479560011&bbn=10208590011&ie=UTF8&qid=1448823439&rnid=2479559011
• I haven't found any channels live for free yet

QUESTION: HOW MUCH DATA DOES THIS USE WHEN DOWNLOADING/WATCHING TV?
• Streaming devices will use 1 to 5G per hour for HD (1080P) depending on the compression your ISP uses. For 4K it's 3 to 4 times that. Netflix uses more data than Amazon for 4K.
• It depends on the quality, HD averages 2GB per hour.

QUESTION: CAN FIRE TV OR FIRE REMOTE WORK WITH A REGULAR TV?
• The Fire TV series has HDMI output only. So if your regular TV has an HDMI input, then yes. If you have a set built in the last century it's called an analog TV. Analog TV's are not supported with modern streaming devices, except for one model. If you have a set of RCA inputs with RED/BL/YELLOW, then you can use a Roku 1. With most media content, you will lose about 1/3rd of your screen to letterbox strips.
• That depends on your definition of "regular TV"... The TV must have an HDMI input, and/or a USB input, and have direct or wireless access to the Internet. Most of these would be called "smart" TV's and are LCD or plasma.

QUESTION: COULD I USE THIS IN A HDTV IN BRAZIL?
• Not according to Amazon. These are the countries the Fire TV works in so far.... https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201624360
• yes you can.

QUESTION: CAN I INSTALL WINDOWS 10 OR UBUNTU ON IT? I LIKE TO LOOK AT THIS DEVICE AS A MINI PC TO MAKE MY TV SMART, SO WHY NOT GIVE IT A FULL FLEDGED OS?
• Pretty sure Windows 10 would be infeasible. You could do Ubuntu of you rooted it, but I wouldn't suggest that as it would, I'm pretty sure, void any warranty/service relations with Amazon.
• No you cannot. It's basically an android phone with some changes to be used with a TV.
• Basically this is ARM based SoC, but I doubt you fill find all specs for drivers to trully use it. If you need to have additional functions on you FireTV consider installing KODI: http://kodi.wiki/view/Amazon_Fire_TV - FireTv + KODI is all you need for day-to-day usage.

QUESTION: WILL SHOWS CONTINUE TO PLAY AFTER I GO TO SLEEP?
• When you hold down the home button just put it in sleep mode. It's just like turning the power off to it, shows will not keep running..well as far as I have noticed..
• Yes, they stop after about 3 epidodes.
• Yes unless u turn it off

QUESTION: IF I CURRENTLY HAVE THE STICK AND GET SO-SO QUALITY ON SLING TV OVER WIFI IS THIS WORTH THE $75 IN HOPES OF GETTING BETTER PICTURE WITH ETHERNET?
• It makes a big difference for me on a DSL line. Ethernet will never lose a packet or be interfered with as the WiFi frequencies get overloaded. The worse that could happen is a better streaming device with 4K UHD and more storage for apps.
• Ethernet is faster and streaming won't buffer but not sure how much better the quality is. I have the Fire TV Ethernet and I love it. Hope that helps.
• As of right now hard wired ethernet will always give you better performance than wifi. Especially if you're using a router with gigabit connections.

QUESTION: CAN REMOTE TURN ON TV]
• The remote is for the Fire TV only. It's RF and does not have an IR output that a TV remote has.
• No, it's not designed to do that. It only operates the Fire TV.
• No. TV must be on to select type of input.
• No it only turns on the box
• no
• No.

QUESTION: CAN I VIEW 4K CONTENT ON A NON 4K VIZIO 65 INCH SCREEN?
• No, the TV would need to be 4k compatible to view 4k content. However, the content will still be played at the highest quality your TV will allow.
• Tanner is right and here is what you need to know about viewing in 4K according to Amazon..... https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201859000
• In not the best with electronics, but I think you can watch 4k on a non 4k tv it will just display it in 1080. I don't have a 4k tv yet but I haven't had any trouble and we are watching apps, Netflix, to playing games.
• no

QUESTION: DO YOU HAVE TO USE FIRE TV BOX MINE WENT OUT IS THERE SOMETHING I CAN GET AT STORE ?
• Your Fire TV is under warranty. Info under the Help section on the bottom of any Amazon page. Stores like Best Buy and Staples sell this product.
• There is a 25% discount at Staples till the 13th.

QUESTION: DO WE HAVE TO PAY ADDITIONAL PRICE TO WATCH ESPN AND FOX SPORT
• ESPN does have free highlights for everyone. Most want to watch live. That's available on Sling TV for 20/mo and 5 more for all flavors of ESPN. We have a FOX affiliate so I watch live over the air with digital antenna. BTW there is no compression on over the air like there is on cable/sat/internet. It's a much better way to watch sports including Super Bowl 50.
• Some of the applications require you register your device online and tell them who your provider is, like TWC, or dish, etc.
• There would be subscription fees for a service like Hulu or sling TV to get channel that are one most cable or dish services.

QUESTION: WILL IT RECORD SHOWS TO WATCH LATER? AND CAN YOU PAUSE AND REWIND LIVE SHOWS?
• There is no recording. You can pause and rewind content on the internet but not live on the stuff I have found.
• No you are not recording live shows. You are watching online content. You can pause these.

QUESTION: HOW CAN I AD A WEB BROWSER ON THE FIRE TV ?
• You can mirror an android device and mirror your browser.
• You can sideload Firefox. You'll need a mouse and keyboard. I recommend the k400.
• Probably the best choices for web browsers would be Firefox or opera, but they need to be sideloaded. You can sideload apps from any Android phone or tablet with Apps2Fire which is available on google play. This works with the Fire TV and the Fire TV Stick. You can search the internet for sideloading Fire TV apps, you can also do it from a computer but that is more technical than just putting the Apps2Fire app on your phone and installing any app from your phone onto the Fire TV's.

QUESTION: CAN I USE THIS WITH OUT INTERNET
• It works only with the internet.
• No, you can't.
• It is a streaming device and you do need Internet. If you just want to use your own media then there are many cheaper alternate available in the market.
• No you can not.
• No you cant

QUESTION: IS THIS WIRELESS WIFI MY MODOM IS IN A DIFFRENT ROOM THAN THE TV
• Yes
• Yes, fire tv can either be connected directly (Ethernet) or wirelessly. I have mine connected wirelessly and have had absolutely no problems at all.
• Wireless in next room so signal goes through one interior wall. No issues with the FIRE TV streaming.
• Yes, you can connect via wifi
• Yes
• Assuming your router has enough power to go through the walls/floors/furniture, the remote will also work. You can control the AFTV to pause or rewind with the new 2nd Gen Fire TV from a long ways away as well. I use that when I fill up my coffee cup.
• The fire tv box has built in wifi
• yes

QUESTION: WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THIS AND ROKU?
• I tried to copy the link on the main Fire TV page but was unsuccessful. There is a comparison on the main Fire TV page right above the Save $50 with the Sling TV 3 month bundle.
• [Deleted by the author on Dec 1, 2015 2:11:16 PM PST]

QUESTION: IF YOU HAVE A 4K TV WITH THE AMAZON APP WHERE YOU CAN CURRENTLY WATCH 4K CONTENT, IS THERE ANY OTHER ADVANTAGE TO HAVING THIS BOX?
• If you are happy with your 4K support and it works well for you, there is no need for buying the Fire TV. If you want access to well over 2,000 apps and growing by 3 to 4 a day, you might want a 2nd Gen Fire TV. The choice is yours.
• There is some 4K content on Netflix and there is a 4 K screensaver built into the device it's self.Everything loads fast and there are no dropouts.
• I understand that Netflix offers some 4K content. Voice search is convenient and if you're an Amazon Prime member, you get access to all their content.

QUESTION: I DON'T HAVE CABLE OR INTERNET WILL THIS STILL WORK? IS IT WORTH BUYING
• If you do not have internet, save your money. The Fire TV will not work without it. You will have a very expensive coaster.
• It will only work with a decent internet connection
• You need Internet.

QUESTION: DOES AMAZON FIRE STICK/BOX SUPPORT EARBUDS LIKE ROKU4?
• If your earbuds are bluetooth the Fire TV does have a profile for them. The Game remote can use ones with a 3.5mm like the Roku 4 & 3. The Game package is scheduled for a price reduction according to Amazon press release.
• Amazon fire tv stick does not support headphones of any type. However, the amazon fire tv is now capable of supporting Bluetooth headsets.
• Nope. The Roku allows you to plug in earbuds to the remote for personal listening. The Amazon Fire doesn't have an audio jack on the remote or on the box. The only audio coming out from the Amazon Fire is through the HDMI connection to the TV.
